Russ_vr6 12
am i the only one thinking that in a unfortunate accident that is a very big heavy engine, that could do some serious damage in a car that it wasnt meant to be in? iv seen the aftermath of a nova that had an xe red top,and it had ripped through the bulkhead and ended up half in with the driver!ok old man bit over now lol
Eat this 2
good point but novas are made from old cornflakes boxes iv heard of more than 1 pulling themselvs apart with around 160 lb ft
Russ_vr6 12
yeah true mate, still a 20 year old car tho, just scares me a lil cz iv seen the aftermath of small cars and big engines bet its still bloody fast tho
purple highline monster 0
if you hit anything hard enough the engine will end up on your lap regardless!!! its more likely to rip the front off in a side impact, besides the metal on a bulk head is the same thickness on most golfs! its not that much heavier than an 1.8 4 cylinder and gear box anyway, given the choice of 1.8 or V6 on my lap at 100mph i would decline either!!! Petesvw 0
Looks well, and as stated, bet its a flyer!Think i'd be welding a bit of scaffold between the dash and the bulk-head tho ; )
petervr6 0
Looks well' date=' and as stated, bet its a flyer!Think i'd be welding a bit of scaffold between the dash and the bulk-head tho ; )[/quote']ye if there`s room for it by the looks of it 8-) i wouldnt say there was enough room to fart in there. purple highline monster 0
yeah its only possible to get it in with lots of little tweeks, firstly you need a left hand drive mk1 due to the servo etc being in the way on rhd, sort the mounts and chassis legs and tweek the ancilliarys & wiring & ecu, & the dip stick guide tube (you can see in pic) its still a lot of work but worth it, i would love to do it to my mk1 cabriolet
lee060 3
yeah its only possible to get it in with lots of little tweeks' date=' firstly you need a left hand drive mk1 due to the servo etc being in the way on rhd, sort the mounts and chassis legs and tweek the ancilliarys & wiring & ecu, & the dip stick guide tube (you can see in pic) its still a lot of work but worth it, i would love to do it to my mk1 cabriolet [/quote']they have the servos on the left on right hand drives , rod runs along the bulk head kinda like a 'dare i say it' ford fiesta ..Liam
purple highline monster 0
quite correct but you dont have to contend with the 23 linkage parts that run accross the bulk head on a LHD, and the servo is directly above the peddle hence better brakes on a mk1 thats LHD as less loss as there is less linkage, and more room in the bay for an easier conversion to another engine
jaysVR6 2
Does no one remember Awesome's pink abomination? And that was a right hand drive one. Apparently handled like a bag of shite due to the weight of the engine giving it MASSIVE amounts of lift off oversteer and it's inability to go around corners at speed!http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/gallery/mk1vr6gallery.htmlOh and if you think that may be fast click the links below for the ultimate in craziness:http://www.materialmord.de/golf_1_vr6_turbo_by_terror_schna.htmVideo of a Polo VR6 running the quarter:http://videos.streetfire.net/search/VR6+turbo/0/e4cf7bb0-c401-4d82-ab11-98b0005cafa6.htm
purple highline monster 0
thats an awesome polo! i remember that peach Awesome mk1 creation, it came out when one Mick Clements (of PVW "Fame" ) had a Lhasa green mk1 and went all soft and bought a dragon green Rallye was the meanest mk1 on the scene back then and many others followed its styling as i recall
ian 182 0
I'd love a go in that.Wonder if the weight at the front makes it handle worse??ian
