gav_113 0
had a play with a 182 cup today, i have driven one b4 and they are quick off the mark.. but on open road as i found today i flew past, side by side on private dual carriage way! i hit 4th gear and slowly pulled away from him, i glanced over just as a passed and he was shaking his head..lolBTW my cars running 186.1 bhpanother new car falls prey for a old k plate mk3..lol

binliner 0
I could be wrong but I thought the cup was 172 and the trophy was 182?
gav_113 0
the first cup was 172, the next one was 182, its the one with twin exhausts out the back, ive driven both, they are mental in the wet, just spin all the time due to power/weight ratio! i thought the later ones were cups aswell, they do one with two white stripes up the bonnet and roof thought that was a trophey? a girl at work has a 182 its the same as hers, she did also have the 172 aswell, but traded it in for the newer model. Jk* 0
Another Victory to the VR! Wooooo
Seademon 0
My mates got the cup 172 and they are more of a match for a VR6 as their lighter etc. Had a few races when we went to Le Man last year and we were pretty much equal in a straight line to around 130Mph when I could pull away from him, his cars fully stripped and modded a fair bit too tho. gav_113 0
yep, off the mark they are quick due to being made from tin foil and plastic! like i said i couldn't get past him til 4th, i should imagine a VR has more torque?
Russ_vr6 12
there was a 172 in the round headlight shape clio, then from about 2001 on there was the 172 and 172 cup, then the 172 with twin tailpipes, then the 182 cup and finaly the 182 trophy with gas shocks with seperate canisters (handle like fcuk!)they are pretty good, had a play with a 172 a while bk and sat on his bumper till 120 till i got bored n over took and he then started undertakin so i let him go,still say fair play gav coz they are bloody fast cars in there own right, quick round a track too

petervr6 0
ye there prety good motors i used to have a 172cup 53plate it was vry quick but the vr feels more raw if you like.they are excellent power for your money if you want something small and powerful for running around in and fcuking CHEAP to run. Russ_vr6 12
id have another
matth76 1
I had no problem accelerating past one (the later one with two exhausts) when he was definitely pushing his. I even had a passenger. I was still in third when I pulled by. My vr does have around 200+bhp though.
Focker-out 0
Without sounding pessimistic, i would only attempt a wee race with a 172 or 182 in a straight line cos these cars even in std form will embarrass even a well sorted vr6 in a twisty road.
Russ_vr6 12
hate to admit it but its true, even with me coilovers i struggle keeping up

petervr6 0
ye the standard suspension is even good on them.
Mot 0
yep...they handle so well its untrue, my mate has a 182 with both cup packs but swapped the suspension for H&R coilovers and it seriously scares me how fast it can corner and brake at speed around bends (being so used to how bad the vr handles and breaks if im honest) the 182 is sooo much nicer to drive, i'd have one tomorrow if they looked like a mk3 golf or made the right sound in a straight line there's nothing between us, what-so-ever...thats with a de-cat and BTB exhaust on my friends! VR6gaz 0
my mate has a 172 (standard) and my VR is standard. Clio is a bit quicker off the mark but the VR starts to pull away slighlty when in 3rd gear and he cant catch up
gav_113 0
yep dats right! no way he was catching me when i hit 4th..lol

Mot 0
i've nicked my mates 182 tonight to take for a drive...left him with the VR to use for a bit....it handles better in the wet than my VR in the dry lol...shamefull!i need some coilovers and new ARBs!
