  1. 'What ones is best to get?' you may find is too broad a question, as in best to get 'for what'? What is your intended outcome? I would research the effects first.
  2. Guys/gals, Anyone done/doing a 24v conversion or know the answer - what cat did you use?
  3. As I understand, they correspond to the lift and duration of the cam...so its profile. Resulting in varying valve behavior.
  4. Just to end this topic, the white 3 pin square connector is for 2 speed Non air con. It doesnt mean OBD1 as my 98 has the same connector and is also non aircon. The donor car I got the rad from also has NO aircon, I got that bit wrong..oops. So whilst I cannot confirm that early / late have different connectors, on initial evidence I would say not. The difference is around 2 spd or 3 spd, so a/c or non a/c.
  5. Hi, yeah really happy with the wheels, was a long day that one! Waiting for an engine thats 300 miles away to pop up now.
  6. After some research last week Ive started collecting parts for a 2.8 24v swap. In for a penny... o2a box, shifter mech with cables and standard flywheel.
  7. I believe the 2 speed will be ok as I won't have ac anyway and the doc guide states that if the 3rd fan speed engages there is deeper trouble.
  8. Yeah thought so. Seems that early and late units aren't the same as OBD1 and OBD2 here if bennys is OBD2 and is the same connections as the one I have, which is early. The car I got mine from has A/C so should be 3 speed as per the vr cooling guide google doc, but only has 3 terminals which suggests earth and 2 speeds. Hmmmm. Benny is yours aircon/3 spd?
  9. Thanks bennyk those connectors are the same as mine.
  10. Edit. As you said earlier Dom I think it may be early not late as the white loom connector is squarer not oval.
  11. Front 3/4 standing shot...its raining. Coilovers and wheels fitted, still need to get tracking done and a spacer on the rear. Had dents removed, mopped and detailed, now needs a wash. And an engine change.
  12. Thats a good site there thanks. Interesting reading. I picked up the slam panel with rad and fans as its so close. Here are the fan motor and rad sender connector images below. From the info on the site above it appears to be a later unit? The rad temp sender is 3 pins in a triangle. I searched images for fan motor to see if the other connector is the same - I can only see ones that look like mine below. Its from an N reg car so possibly built through the OBD change over period. Looking for confirmation of early or late. If its late I guess I could grab the control unit to go with it. Thanks.
  13. Ta. I'm OBD2 non aircon and will stay that way post conversion. The N reg OBD1 donor has aircon so would be 3 stage, with older connection. I'm guessing this'll be no good to me at all then or....?
  14. Thanks Dom. Looks like fan control unit and motor also different, so may not be 3 speed as you suggest. This is fun.
  15. Thanks....again. It's a 95 OBD1 rad & fan setup I'm picking up so would the OBD1 fan motor cause the fans not to work at all with OBD2 management?
  16. For info, rads are all the same, only ever one part number.
  17. Did the front panel with rad and twin fans change at all through model years? Any electrical connector differences between OBDs? I can't find this info. There's a VR being broken very near to me (I already had a couple of parts off it) at good value but its OBD1 and no engine or history, so box, ECU and loom are out. I want to grab parts that are universal to OBD1 & 2, leaving myself a low miler OBD2 engine, loom, ECU and VR box to find either independently or together. I'm at: engine brackets, hydro clutch, front panel...anything else that could help? Sorry for double post. Cheers.
  18. Morning. Woken up with a bee in the bonnet. Did the front panel with rad and twin fans change at all through model years? Any electrical connector differences between OBDs? 19. Thanks for that. I've got 280mm brakes ready to swap for the 256's. Understood on ABS and power steering. That's good news. Id likely need VR power steering hoses? Will it throw fault codes with no ABS wired?
  20. So I forgot to post pics of fitted coils and wheels but its sitting nice, Im happy. Its gone into the body shop for dents, a full mop and touch up chips, fitting 2 new rear window guide seals and my new drivers door hinge pictured above. Will get pics up on Friday when I get'r back. I have a few questions about the VR swap. 1. I currently have no ABS and I dont really want it. Ive read this can be deleted upon installing a VR, so is this right? Is it a bodge, can it be done properly without compromising anything? How about MOT/legality wise? Any infos on this would be appreciated. 2. I h
  21. Bought a set of RS764's with new tyres. Booked in this morning for fitting coilovers. Next should be power.
  22. Nice Sharpie work. Is that freehand? And nice car too!
  23. Bad luck there. It looks like a dropped pallet, maybe caused the engine to roll or fall over. Its clearly had an impact. Seems typical for a courier to try to repack it and hope it goes unnoticed. I hope you can get something sorted.
