Folks. Failed MOT on cracked weld at back box but don't want to replace with standard rubbish as going 2.5" in the near future. Its for an estate but hoping a hatch silencer will fit. Could do with being close to Bristol, available immediately and reasonable value bla bla bla. I plan to use a pipe diameter adapter for now and make it fit for MOT. Cheers.

Hi Daveyboy. Honestly not got much done. Looms away now being done. Bit of a wait but will be done properly. When the weathers a bit warmer I can get back to the Moto commute and take the golf off the road. Everything parts wise in the garage, just the usual busy busy. I'm going to say by end of March it'll be under way. 👷

Cheers Pete, that set has gone. Ill give some second-hand Samcos a bit of a chance before I find an alternative.

Hi, As title, I need a full set of black SAMCO silicone hoses for VR6 AAA. New or nearly new only please. Cash waiting. Cheers.

Errmm, havent had much free time lately but getting back on it now. Loom is going off to be done soon so that will be a major step forward. Got a Sachs clutch on now & just ordered some of the most expensive bolts in the world from VW to mate the box back onto block. Changed crack pipe and thermostat in the last 2 months, real progress. Cheers.

About 30 quid I think, yes I got it from vw.

Vw number 066 145 933K.

Thanks yeah looks like its fine. The web says for low torque accessories or where the belt wraps the pulley well, single sided is good enough.
-
My best guess is that between the tensioner and crank pulleys & grooves, enough tension and guidance is provided? It appears that the shallower grooves on my water pump pulley have slightly flattened the ribs of the old belt a little. My concern is that the surface of the flat (outside) side of the new belt does not seem rubberized at all to run around the pulley....?
-
Hi, Removed my a/c pump and bought the required belt from VW but it only has ribs on one side of the belt. I've checked elsewhere and the part number seems right but given that it has to run the reverse side of the belt around the water pump, does this seem right? The grooves on the coolant pump pulley are much less prominant than the other pulleys. Anyone experienced this? Cheers.

Not had much time lately but swapped flywheels today from 24 to12v and got engine mounts on. Got a clutch on its way too so hopefully have gearbox fitted up soon.

Hi mine needs doing too. There are some good guides online but its pretty much what you said. Be careful with your adhesive especially with a natural material like suede. Also having worked with leather I'd watch the thickness and weight as it may fall again if too heavy. I'll probably go for some grey headliner fabric off eBay, despite it being boring.

Very tidy...nice work. -
Smells like Airfix again! Painted starter, carriers and engine mounts yesterday. Starter and mounts are rattle canned. Built up new 12v thermostat assembly. De-loomed engine, deleted ac pump and fitted new belt, removed intake for looky looky.

Yes I used enamel...can't see it making up for my crappy prep! I got inspiration after seeing a gearbox in someones bathtub.

She'll never know.

I just became a paid member as figured im going to ask a lot more q's...I noticed a discount benefit with Vibra Tech, which brings me to ask what engine mounts are you all running? Id rather be on the stiffer end of half way between but not competition. Any recommendations/warnings?

I think the Teves system didn't use a valve. The early system did. -
Good point, I'll check for deals as need some service bits anyway.
