Metallic noise on acceleration
isobarboy replied to jamesw6810's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
When this happened on a older car I had. It jerked so hard it ripped the gearlever my hand. That did make me Lol hearin that, but ouch! Bet that made a bang... Yeah check your mounts. Have a look for cracked, dried out rubbers, bent bolts linking these? Could not be the problem but free to look . -
Found these bungs. Pressed one and it crunched.... doesnt look rotted but I know that sound. Hopefully by the looks of it i dont have to bad a job as ive caught it early. Or does its external look not give away the damage?

Engine hunting and cutting out
isobarboy replied to AxlFoley's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
My engine has just today started cutting out when the throttle is of. Can drive 55+ miles down the dual-carraigeway, come to a halt for any reason and it cuts out. Pulls lovely stil though ive noticed lower end a bit more sluggish than usual today. I havnt changed the sparks, leads or anything as only had this one a month. What line of investigation to resolve this should I start first?? Please help -

A lot of gearstick movement when slamming the accelerator and then coming off is a sure sign a mounts ruined. -
Found this while "youtubing". Hope this helps.

Looks nice on the outside! I need an alloy wheel refurb so mine look as nice as those.I like a big VW badge on the front though ) -
Had a typical rear leaky drivers side footwell. Plugged a leaky pipe from the sunroof drain which was front left, bu that leaked into the dash. Dried carpet and underkay out. A month later its wets again. Not around the edges of the footwell, slapbang in the middle? Couod this be a whole?? Didnt feel one. Heard about a vent which sputters into this footwell, just wondered how you check this to be the culprit too Cheers people

Okay thanks for the advice.

In Cornwall your lucky if you even get a bus or train... seems the drivers have the ability to skip stops. 3 hours to get 35 miles via bus....joke. while annoying teenagers blare music through their mobile speakers haha

Yes I do think so. As theres there extra 5mm of space inbetween the hub and wheel. Exceuse the late reply, didnt flag the post up for me to reply.

Looks soo shiny!

If a spacer is fitted youll need longer bolts to compensate for the bigger gap. Be on the safe side.

The buyers guide says this is a sign of clocking. I mean it doesnt reset every time. But its 75/25 does. What should I do to resolve this? The mileage and time doesnt but the rest does. Thanks
