It's been a while since I done mine but if remember correctly it goes nut and washer on over the first rubber to hold it together. Then the big curved washer sits in a cup inside the car then the other rubber with smaller curved washer sits in top with a nut. Was over a year ago I could be wrong tho but that sounds about right to me.

Can't remember how much I bought now think it was 1 and a half. Then I thought I might not have enough and got another half litre wich I don't need but will come in handy when I change the bumpers over.

Thanks for offer mate much appreciated the car is now booked in with a local bodyshop. They are located literally round the corner they do good work because we use them often for customers and I am getting good deal as it will be worked on as and when they can. So all going well will report back in couple of weeks with a finished car.No bother mate. I'm only in Chester Le street so nor that far from you.. I'm sure we could get it somewhere near..

will get some pictures tomoro at work.Hey man, what is exactly wrong mate? Send me some pictures and I might be able to sort it for you ...
-
the guy who messed mine actually does it for a living he is a smart repairer. The deal was he needed his works van fixing and his daily driver so I sorted them both and he would sort my bodywork out but once I fixed his he started making excuses. Shouldn't have let him do it really as I could see he couldn't be arsed.Seriously winds me up when people claim to be painters that haven't got a clue, it's really not that hard to get it right, even if you only know the basics!
-
He got runs in the paint then tried flattening it and went to far and ended up going through the paint and as its a pearl paint can't touch it up. I got a number for a bodyshop through work so hopefully we can come to some sort of arrangement. I will get the car to vw fest if it kills me but it won't be show worthy wich is why I would rather give my space to someone else.

Oh mate if I don't laugh I will cry it will basically need a full respray i am seriously thinking if just scrapping it. I can't afford at the moment to get it put right.

Well they guy who was painting my car has well and truly fucked the job so I'm going to have to cancel. I may get it sorted before the show but count me out for now rather some one else had my spot.

That's what red bull is for and with roughly 23 liters of the stuff I might need a hand finishing it off or I can just run my car on it lol

sump gaskets on a 2.9 vr6 - sealant or no sealant?
in General Chat
Posted
I have done hundreds of sumps and always used sealant and never had a leak. But that's mainly due to parts companies not supplying the gasket so my preference is to use sealant but each to their own.
