  1. Hi, tried to sign up just now and the system still wants to charge £15?
  2. Mine is normally around 85-90 on coolant temp.
  3. I appreciate that, I don't expect a magic wand but another opinion from someone who knows the motor would be great. Plus it means a nice blast down the A36! Will PM you.
  4. According to Google maps you are less than 60 miles away so I may well take you up on your offer, thanks. All the local garages seem to want at least 1/2 hour labour just for diagnostics. As you clearly know your stuff it'll be worth the blast down! I'll PM you to discuss further if that's cool.
  5. Front left when you look at it with the bonnet open. The belt tensioner is fine. Me and a mechanic friend took out the air box and removed the belt and checked all the pulleys and everything is fine inc. the tensioner pulley bearing. The water pump was replaced a month ago. It only makes the noise when up to temp and only when the engine is idling. It hasn't effected the performance or engine temps in any way. It sounds like a bearing but I now know it's not. It's so hard to locate where it's coming from!
  6. Where are you Bungy and how much would you charge?
  7. Thanks for your reply Bungy. I have a strange noise coming from the left front of the engine that no-one has been able to diagnose so I would like to take it somewhere where they know the VR6 engine. Also I have wondered whether running diagnostic software might throw something up?
  8. Hi all, Don't know if many of you are in or around Wiltshire but wondered if anyone could recommend a good independent garage in the area. Don't want to go to the main stealer if I can help it! Thanks!
  9. I think that could be a good shout. Is it straightforward to check and/or replace? Thanks!
  10. Bump! Any ideas/suggestions gratefully received!
  11. It kinda sounds like a worn bearing but it's hard to pinpoint. My car is a 1995 OBD2.
  12. Hi all, Some advice if I may..... My car has a strange noise coming from the front of the engine. At first, I thought the noise was coming from the left side of the engine where the pulleys are. However, I had a mechanic friend have a look and we took the airbox out and took off the serpentine belt and checked all the pulleys and all are fine, so i know it's not a water pump, a/c pump or tensioner pulley bearing. My friend thinks the noise could be coming from nearer the front of the engine under the intake manifold near injector 1. It kinda sounds like a bearing or could be a vacuum nois
  13. Ta for the advice Gary. I will be fitting a fully refurbished unit complete with pulley.
  14. Great was sure they were. Thanks for confirming dude!
  15. Hi all, Hope all is well with everybody! I need to replace the tensioner on my VR6. I'm going to do it myself cause after reading the guide on here it looks dead easy. I have been offered an OBD1 unit but my car is OBD2. Will it fit my car okay? From what I can tell they are the same? Thanks!
  16. That made I laugh! ^o)
  17. Afternoon all, The rear electric windows on my VR6 do not work. I bought the car knowing there was an intermittent problem with them and that it is a common problem on mk3's. Are there any checks I can do to try and sort it out? Does anyone know the common faults? Thanks!
  18. I'd be up for Weston on the 10th. Not far from Wiltshire! I went to Weston last week and the new pier is open. It's quite good! :-d
  19. Well it's defo the water pump! Damn only had it three weeks but luckily not a huge job! Been quoted £150 from my local VW Audi specialist.
