  1. Yippee she passed....okay failed first time but only needed a track rod end, no advisories otherwise...happy days! :-)
  2. If you could measure the tops of the arches and the front and rear of the sills that would be awesome mate :-) From the ground to the top of the arches and sills yeah...just to be sure I get the measurements you need mate.
  3. Mine is bog standard...what measurements do you need?
  4. Hi all, Hope you all had a good Xmas and are looking forward to the New Year! :-) I've got the first MOT (first MOT since I owned her), on my VR6 this coming Tuesday, have all my fingers and toes crossed! Always a nerve racking time when you have a first MOT on a car! Cheers.
  5. Would have loved to make this but working on Friday unfortunately :-(
  6. Where would the meet be? Somewhere on the south coast I assume? :-)
  7. Hello! Right, had the ignition switch replaced and so far so good. Only picked the car up last night so early days yet and will 'test' over the weekend but hopefully it's sorted. One question, the scan revealed a couple of ABS sensor faults (no surprise) but also a short to the 'charcoal filter solenoid'. What is this? Any ideas? Cheers, Dan

    Got a VR6.

    Welcome along mate!
  9. I've just got a new phone that allows mobile web and although the site loaded and looked fine I just could not get logged in?!
  10. I just had a very similar issue to this and had the ignition switch replaced yesterday, a common fault. Seems to be okay now but is still in 'testing'. Get it on vagcom mate to rule out other issues like immobiliser etc.
  11. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. The starting is still very intermittent. Have a friend coming to vagcom in the morning so will see what that throw's up. I'm more and more convinced it's the ignition switch as it's a common issue and having searched this and other forums my symptoms match those of others that have suffered the same. I hope in some ways it is the switch as it's an easy fix and even my main stealer quoted under £100 to replace. Will keep you posted on progress!
  12. Had some terrible problems posting since yesterday morning so just testing this works!
  13. Really? How would this stop the car starting? I'll check the connections though - what colour is it? Thanks for the prompt reply!
  14. Hi all, Hoping once again for some advice from the good guru's out there. My VR6 won't start. It fires up but then dies straight away. It has done this for a few weeks but has always started on the second or third attempt. However this morning it took a good 6-7 attempts but did start but now won't start at all? Any ideas peeps?
  15. I'm personally not a big fan of them, think they look a bit chav, but hey each to their own! The mk3 does suffer from stone chipping on the edge of the bonnet so I guess they do have practical use but no I wouldn't have one. I'd prefer to leave them to the boy racers in their Saxo's!

    Gary Speed

I couldn't believe it when I heard this news. Seemed like a mentally rock solid kinda guy bit I guess you can never be sure. RIP Gary Speed.
  17. Synta Silver is still available! I get it from my local VW dealer and it's very well priced too! It's semi-synthetic 10w 40 by the way - a lot of people find fully synthetic a little thin. :-)
  18. Hi all, Bit of a panick on here. Was out in my car last night for a work meal. I was rather early turning up so was sat in my car for a good 30-40 mins listening to the radio and with interior light on (engine not running). Went to start it the usual way i.e. deactivating the Laserline immobiliser and turning the key but the alarm just goes off!? I do hear the starter 'click' before the alarm sounds but engine doesn't start? Sense tells me my battery must be too flat to start the engine but the alarm sounds of fine and nothing on the warning lights indicates a flat battery? Any ideas anyone
  19. Ypu'll have to pop down some time for a more sociable gathering and meet the rest of the gang.... Will defo do that. Will keep my eyes peeled for anything you guys organise!
  20. Happy b'day Bungy - and thanks again for your help back in the summer with the diagnostics. :-)
  21. Hi all! I have a Scorpion tailpipe on my 8v mk2 GTi. Does anyone know whether it would fit my mk3 VR6? Thanks!
