    If you rub it lightly it goes a light brown....rub it harder it goes black...either way it's not flakey, could be considered clean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol........ Try Krust....turns rust into useable/paintable surface....HMMMMMMM.......I've seen it turn rust black and into a solid surface, but I wouldn't say it would last for long......
