  1. fwiw i have a macbook and run vmware fusion with windows xp - both vcds-lite and my lpg software work a treat
  2. This is great, could one of you admins stickify it plz?
  3. I'm up for it, definitely... is the VCDS license with the KII-USB dongle the one of choice?
  4. Hi bungy, got the ball joint yesterday. When is good for you? I'm free anytime after about 5.30 and on the weekends... btw the number I sent you doesn't work atm, d'oh, I've pm'd you my other half's number instead. Ta
  5. Nice one, I'll go down to TPS and get some bits somepoint this week then drop you a line! Ta!
  6. Portswood / Highfield...
  7. No real reason bungy, just never done it before and I'm a bit lacking in tools! I'd much prefer to pay one of you guys to do it instead of giving it to a garage - that way I can get involved too Thanks for the offer, I'll pm you my mobile and we will sort out a time. Thanks!!
  8. Hello all, was wondering if anyone in the So'ton / Pompey area wants to do some work on my VR? The offside track rod end ball joint needs replacing, don't wanna give it to some random monkey garage Anything else I should think of doing at the same time?
  9. Old thread I know! What is the 2nd lambda sensor actually for? If both are fecked do they both need to be replaced for the ECU to know the correct fuelling or is it all based on one?
  10. Thanks guys, I'll get some quotes - hopefully an hour on the dyno will do the job!
  11. Does anyone know of a good value rolling road, either around Manchester or Southampton? I want to have a slightly more scientific play (i.e. an hour on a dyno) with the LPG ECU as I've got some tuning issues... Today's dyno plot shows a fuelling problem happening at about 3.7krpm and I want to try to tweak it using the map - I don't know if it's a problem with the map or the LPG hardware. Thoughts *-) Dyno plot is below... Solid lines are petrol, dashed lines are LPG. There's power, torque and lambda. The LPG lambda values look wrong :S and the loss of torque is just criminal... I should be pu
  12. Somewhere in Macclesfield, hiding under some snow... Much more forecast for tonight!
  13. D'oh, so they have... So much for my searching capabilities!
  14. Hi all! Some of you may have come across this thread http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3057180#post41426240 describing an aftermarket coil pack build using MSD ignition coils. It's a good read! Has anyone on here done anything like this before, or used any coilpack other than the standard VAG one? Since it seems that the OEM one is a bit crap I want to replace it with a better quality, more powerful unit. Since I converted to LPG the coilpack has suffered a bit, though it's done well considering it's covered 80k! I'm getting a new OEM coilpack this evening so would like to hack the old
  15. Aah nice one, done it. Thanks calico!
  16. Hi all, as above really. Could spend ages poking around but can't be arsed, and it's cold! Ideally I want to run wires from the engine bay to the glovebox... Want to route the LPG ECU serial cable and some nice heavy gauge cable to my 230v inverter. Ta
  17. Ha you saw the grin sequence :-d 8o| lol
  18. Oh yeah, and well done to everyone here (esp. VR6Nat!) who has sorted out TPS discounts - I saved £70 at TPS due to the 40% discount and loads more due to going there in the first place! Aaah, vr6 love...
  19. Yup, a true legend. The guys didn't mind me hanging about initially to watch them strip it down (and asking loads of questions!), having seen them do it I feel pretty good about possibly schricking it next year (it's the VR's 15th birthday in april lol)... doesn't seem like such a daunting task now! Better start saving (for the insurance :S )
  20. p.s. I can't remember everyone else's names but thanks to all you guys too. Right, I'm going to burn some fossil fuels.
  21. This weekend Dave & Co did my timing chains, clutch, oils, coolant and made a tasty mod to my airbox It sounds GREAT and drives beautifully - couldn't stop smiling all the way home! Thanks Dave, you're a gent.
  22. Awesome! looks like someone loses all their bank cards just as they go into the first turn, oops
  23. Hehe insulating tape, I was wondering if some sort of sealant would do the job but hey, the VR deserves better Having said that, just got some pants £30 leads to tide me over :-* Lukey, guess the originals have stood the test of time - the other 5 leads are still in great shape, hmmm I wonder if I can find just one original lead, just to get that lovely red back in the engine bay Like the look of the screen-grounded dubpower leads but they're just too much - got the MOT in december so saving up for lots of bits and bobs :S
  24. Yeah they're pretty deep and somewhat inaccessable... I had a poke around this morning and managed to electrocute myself mildly off plug 3 - its arcing from the point the wire joing the plug housing. D'oh! New leads. Phew Thanks you guys again for all your help!!!!! (edit) PS Out of interest doing the ECU reset has smoothed up the cylinders that are running properly when decelerating, it is worth doing a reset every time you put in new plugs?
