  2. Just got my engine running after rotrex build,im getting loads of white froff like gunk coming up from the timing chain side and its all over the cams and dipstick, a few symtoms : white froff from timing chain side " " on the dipstick, filler cap and cams, no contamination in header tank no white smoke no leaking around head gasket compression test done all within parameters intermitent loud mechanical noise some times when coming off the revs but not all the time sounds like it is coming from around the bottom area but cannot pin point. engine hesitates around 4000rpm since the

  5. not sure yet but reading about DTA dont need sommat amazing just simple and easy to use probs go for the i pad2 lol
  6. obd1 is the way forward, im sure i will figure it out as i go along,i dont think i will be able to run the charge cooler cos i would not be able to stabilise the air on such a short system so running an intercooler would be a better option. i think with the mapping ill go stand alone cos got a afm controller on route.obd2 seems to be a pain in the ass and the time ive spent the money on converting i would be better spending the cash on standalone..i the battle is nearly won.....
  7. WOW after so many could it be that, i disconnected the charger air pipe to the throttle body and went back to basics running the standard air pipe, maf and air filter ,and it ran perfect apart from abit of idle minors...so i thought it was the air that was giving me the problems.so with a bit of trial and error i had to stabilize the air before it hit the maf by making the air pipe after the air filter longer and by doing this the air was less turbulant and the maf could cope with the extra intake of air..the charger works good so just have to get 100mm silicone so i can get the correct length
  8. SOUNDS A MINT IDEA LMFAO..looks like the winter has set into your wheels mate all the salt ect you will probably find that it has gone into the alloy rather than surface damage so a full strip and powder coat is the way forward probs...or just get the lips polished then get a good laquere on to stop the elements getting in....
  9. ive done the conversion on both mate ie vento to golf and golf to vento and i think your mate is on about the front panel there is no difference the only problem i came across on the conversion was the vento was a 1992 anf the light i got for it were later 1996 and i had to convert the light loom plug easy done though any dramas drop us a pm

    i-pad 2

its always the same the first ones are always poo cos mass production and loads of advertising they know it will sell like hot cakes..i wonder if there is an ap where you can plug it to your motor and custom map it .......
  17. went to scrappies today picked up obd2 inlet manifold, throttle body and MAF and some wiring but do i need the EGR thingy. ive looked at the wiring and does anybody know how to wire the old 5 pin maf into the 4 pin only 1 wire shows voltage when ignition is on...I was thinking it may be due to the plugs as the old ones are new and the ones i have in now are from when i brought the charger mmm this may be the problem any thought on any thing else dudes
  18. cheers mate,i take it i will have to change the wiring as well. oh well one day i will drive this thing probs when the world runs out of fuel lol
  19. no map yet and standard injectors..ive been told the best way to solve this is to convert to obd2...
  20. the return runs to the fuel pressure regulator the bottom connector then out the side to the to the fuel rail reg then where the return pipe normally goes ive put a non return valve on is that right
  21. finished my rotrex build today and have 2 problems. vr6 obd1 aaa 1, the maf is popping quite loud on idle and trying to accelerate. 2, i thought the idle problem was sommat to do with the fuelling so disconnected the fuel regulator and fse and connected it all back up to where is was originally, when i disconnected the fuel feed pipe to the rail the fuel was under alot of pressure and squirted all over..i ran the fuel through a walbro 4 bar pump to the rail and the return pipe was connected to the fse and the return hose on the rail was blanked with a non return valve ifs thats any help.. thank
  22. im after the air con kompressor part number, does the vr6 one differ from a 1800 one im running a OBD1 AAA
