  1. at last got my rotrex build up and running, after so much pain and scratchin heads and so chuffed with the results need now to get it mapped cos not running perfect..ill get some pics up soon..i was chattin to bungy b4 about standalone management i think this will be the better route as i will be changing the injectors, chargecoolin, meth injection and uppin the psi so cheaper in the long run....whats the best brain to use on it obd1 aaa 2.8 decomp and rotrex c30-84... cheers for all the help lads

  3. cheers mate ,,,thought it was i think i was reading the thread wrong . just to check things over with the timing..ive lined up the fly wheel to its mark and got the intermediate shaft lined up using the line on the block behind the open circle with the tooth on the cams are on with the cutouts facing upwards and a plate in the other side to hold them...i have no timing mark on the crank pully which is a pain and after refitting the gbox ive lined up the mark in the hole in the top of the gbox i know this is not the prefered mark to go off but it lines up nice......
  4. picked up new valves today well had to buy a complete head...need help!! ive read the timing chain thread and still to unsure where the slack goes on the chainbefore the tensioner bolt is fitted...ive left the slack on the tensioner bolt side is this right or does it go on the other side...
  5. priced up new from vw this morning 416 euros and aftermaket 308 euros going down country today to source some from the garage i first brought my engine...he should have loads as he has over 100 vr6 engines and lots of 1.8t and many more...update later
  6. after stripping my engine and gearbox to fit new raceware head bolts and sort the timing out,,,and find out why its not running right..as i flipped the head around 8 bent valves were starring at my as u can imagine i was crawling the walls but at least its not a 24valve i thought...head now stripped off to vw tommoz..........
  7. sweet mate,i did not fall in the first bracket for redundancy gutted but hope for next year 74 grand wouldent go a miss im sure that would buy some mint new parts.putting car back together today hope it goes well c u later mate...
  8. alright pal, sounds like things are going well but alwaays seems to take 4eva ive waited 4 weeks for my ARP studs and still not so ordered some raceware instead be here friday cant wait...when u next going to the ring...im off for a week at the end of april...
  9. ah i done the same yer whilst the g/b was fitted it took around 4 hours of swearing,sweat and tear i through my teddy all over i think i finished around 1 in the morning after which i thought it would take 30 mins top....good luck mate
  10. ordered my arp head stud kit 2 weeks ago from a local tuner they should be here friday......i hate waiting so long for parts, but in the mean time ive taken up gardening,come on that fkn boat from the states i hate gardening!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. fkn garage they said my arp head studs would be here this week wont be here till next week friday earliest he said there coming from the states...does anyone know where ican get them any quicker.......
  16. im getting some free yes free porsche calipers as he is upgrading his.i need to know what size disc do i need to run and what carrier do i need im running a 280mm setup on a 4 stud hub and 16"x9 schmidt alloys his calipers are off a old boxster nothing special..
  17. should be done for sat. the dreaded white shit was caused by the 3 layer gasket and a couple of head bolts were not up to torque hense the poppin noise water pressure..the new samco hoses look the dogs and better cos no boost leak sounds completly nuts with the forge valve on like a fkn tornado...when u back over dude..going to the ring ass end of april
  18. head off and stripped valves ect all good.waiting for ARP's to come on friday back together by sat and see how it goes....
  19. cheers mate ive just taken the oil cooler off and its all fine no water in the oil jackets,so heading to the head gasket,yer the bore size on the 2mm spacer is slightly bigger than the original ones,so may remove and just run 1 standard gasket this should be ok running 6psi rotrex..hope the valves are fine as all new around 5 months ago should be done by sunday work permitting..
  20. cheers fellas ill give the cooler a go hopefully its that...any ideas on the loud clonking noise cannot pin point as it sounds like it is in different places every time it sounds
  21. yes dropped compresssion using a 2mm spacer gasket and 2 original gaskets running 6psi but only ran engine for around 40 mins in total over 2 days.how can i check the oil cooler to see if it is working properly. when i did my comp test the front 3 were on 98psi and the rear 3 ranged from 120 to 128 psi if that helps
