  1. Paint won't be fully hardened when it leaves the bodyshop, that can take a while, when you think about all the layers that's on for primer, base coat and then lacquer
  2. You should be using a grit guard, 2 buckets buckets and a wash mitt anyway. But I was told to leave the paint 6 weeks before using a wax soo any impurities can reach the surface rather than being trapped. For that reason its also best to leave it as long as possible before having the paint flatted back. I left my polo 6 weeks before using a wax, but kept it clean. In these months with salt on the road you might not be able to leave it aslong as 6 weeks. My golf was left a few weeks before it was even flatted back. Obviously an oven will quicken up the process but the car will still come out
  3. Same I could be spent hours/days cleaning it but, the lights inside are at the certain brightness that shows up swirls and buffer trails really bad. So i'm getting paint correction, interior, engine bay and wheels sealed before I go down by getpolished. Wash down to remove RTF from the drive down and possibly a wax when inside and a sealant spray should do it to get it all purrrdy
  4. So reds are best? Tarox are really expensive are EBC better than brembos? a few people have said inc the garage I go to just to get OEM brake discs and pads
  5. Same i wouldnt mind know thins. but the lad whos detailing my car before I go is going down for the weekend and said he clean my car down there aswel, bonus! But I do actually like cleaning my car....
  6. im getting there for about 1-2pm saturday afternoon Leaving Durham at 10-10.30 and possibly meeting up witht he NW for a few rolling shots and even a video of the convoy
  7. see if my maths is correct the distance in the hub i measured at about 27mm A standard VW wheel bolt stick out of the back of a wheel by 22mm Leaving 5mm free space in the hub If i take 3mm off the adapter if brings the bolt thread length to now 25mm? leaving 2mm free speace in the hub meaning I dont have ot get the bolts machined down?
  8. Which ones are the red one? My mate have some EBC pads and they were terrible until they were hot, which for a faily road car isn't good. I don't know whether to just replace with OEM stuff or go for branded stuff like EBC, brembo, tarox ...
  9. Time to change the frondt and rear brake discs and pads. What would people recommend and were to get them? They are the standard 288mm up front and whatever size stock rears are.... Thanks
  10. Cheers mate Yeah the adaps are for the RFs. They don't quite sit how I want them at the front and could do with being in very slightly. All about the stance Interior goes in thursday for work and the car goes into HTG for more paint the same day Rear coilies are no longer seized, so will be lower than ever for UD Needs MOT before UD though....
  11. The adapters don't feel like they take a radius bolt because it goes to a V shape rather than curved at the bottom if that makes a difference? I didn't think machining them down 3mm would make that much difference or cause problems
  12. Got a pic of what you mean by allen key bolts. There's no pics of them for h&r. When I emailed them for bolts they didn't mention them either. But was going to cost £100 for 10 bolts due to bank transfer costs! I ran them for 2months as them are with half height head bolts (me and my mate cut standard vw bolts due to not getting them when I got the adaps).
  13. They arent allen key type bolts. Just factory VW style ones, so I don't want to machine the head down any more cos they are already half height to sit flush to the adapter
  14. I can't machine the front of the adapter because there not much of the bolt head anyway, so taking 3mm off will make it a nightmare tightening them and taking them out. There's 5mm space on the back where the steel insert starts. So if I take 3mm off its not going to touch the insert (H&R adapters) I've got a spare front hub. So I could bolt the wheel to that and see? So I need to see how much thread is sticking out of the back? How much is considered safe? Cheers Sorry about all the questions but I need to get this right first time
  15. Both. Got a mathe on the unh2o stand and the other is an individual space. They've been emailed by the organisers with a spec sheet to fill in and to put on their dash
  16. Well I was thinking, its the back of the adapter im wanting machined down, so I can maybe get away with not doing the bolts if its 3mm. But ill check on wednesday. Love ghetto check haha
  17. Do we need those form to fill in that go on the dash with a spec list? A few people I know have had emails with them attached
  18. Story goes: I bought a pair of 20mm adaptors from a guy on here which were supposed to arrive with bolts. They did come with bolts, but none were wheel bolts and there wasn't even 10 of them. Just a collection of random bolts quickly painted silver. The guy wasn't very helpful at all and I was let to sort something out 2days before edition. So we cut the standard vw wheel bolts to the head would sit flush. Pretty quick job but it worked. Now my question is, I need to take about 3mm off the adapters to get the fronts sitting how I want them. The 3mm will be coming off the back of the adapter.
  19. Yeah they will Pepperpots are 5x100 Can't remeber offset but will probs be mid to high 30s
  20. Any problems ifm I were to run a OBD1 pipe instead of a valve?

whats awful to some looks good to another, cant please them all. I think the porsche looks the nuts like that. it is a case of just adding spacers to bring the wheels out....all you got to do it go out wiht a tape measure and measure from where the wheels are to where you want them to sit.... given the chance id have air. best of both worlds. can ride with normal height, park it laying frame, and get over speed bumps and into multistories without damage. I know people say air doesnt handle aswel as coilies, but how many people push coilies tho their limit on normal roads anyway? but air ride

yeah of course or add wider dishes my wheels dont have flat back so cant re-drill them. I did think about it though haha. They might be going wider if cash frees up but its not the dishes that willbe going wider.... with BBS wheels if you go past 1" dishes that change from stepped to slanted, from a distance its not that noticable but close up you can tell the difference
