which one would it be? and won't that just disable the wiper completely? my mk4 golf has a clear notch when you push an pull the stalk to turn on and turn off. is a mk3 the same.?
-
simple problem, but really annoying. rear wiper wont cancel no matter how much i play with the stalk. anybody with a fix or solution for this would be appreciated thanks

selling car. mods please delete thread

I called vw and they sell the seals but I think I'll prob just put the original ones back in as they are.really expensive. worth checking I suppose.

ok so the 1st jobs that are out of my hands are under way and the car is in the shop next week for some much needed tlc. so to get rid of the minor rust on the arches and prevent any further problems the rear quarters are being resprayed. if you lift the seal on the tailgate there is 'brown cancer' showing. nothing serious but obviously will need looking at in the future. should i assume that the rear windows will be the same?? i want to know if its worthwhile ordering some new rear window seals and having a window out job??? cheers

vr normally slow to start????
theblueflash replied to theblueflash's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
delay before cranking, which is very short then it fires. there is no sound after i turn the key until the starter 'engages' and turns -
i know there are loads of posts regarding starter motors/starting problems etc but i have a slightly different issue with my vr. after cancelling the immob i turn the key twice to light up the dash. turn it again to start and nothing......wait about 3-4 seconds.......then she fires. no problems. starts like any healthly car/battery would. idles perfect and runs great. battery isnt that old either. my question is are all vrs like this? or is it an immobiliser issue? or do i have a sticky solenoid on the starter? or is the starter motor on the way out? cheers Duncan

coilover problems
theblueflash replied to theblueflash's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
no idea. possibly cheap ones! cleaned the thread with some wd40 and an air line. the top ring was siezed and the crap on the threads wasnt helping. sorted it now. thanks for the quick replies. good to know ive got support if i choose to be sad staying in and playing with my cars on a friday night!!!!! 8-| -
hi. ive got a problem. hope somepne can help. got a golf which ive had a few weeks and its on its arse on coilovers. i need to get it to the bodyshop tomorrow to get the arches looked at but the car is far too low. ive raised the front easily enough but the rears are a pain in the backside. i cant get the height adjustment ring to move unless i use a large screwdriver and a club hammer!!! there are two rings on the thread. the smaller of the two on the bottom, the coilover key fits but the larger one on top doesnt want to spin with it. is that threaded also? or is it just a little siezed? sur

ok. will look into that. was hpoing to pick something up his week. car is int he bodyshop next week for an overhaul and would be nice to have some 'lockless' handles colour coded too.

saw a 58 plate 5 door polo in the scrappy today. dont suppose they would fit for this purpose?? or are they too new???
-
weird i should read this. was in the scrappy raiding a 97 golf and saw the exact same box behind the carpet. did wonder what it was. If you need another and have trouble finding one i dont mind sticking it in the post for a small fee.

ace. will be on that v. soon. boot lining is drying out now as its dripping. i'll check the seals on the lights as they are aftermarket too. as well as the drain holes. didnt think of the boot drain! old man has a de-humidifier which will come in handy. will probably leave that in there for a day and dry it out that way. cheers

could just buy a really cheap set and have them anodised or plated. costs next to nothing. had several brackets/parts anodised on other cars and they've seen years of abuse with no rust at all.
-
any update on this??? havent had chance to check my rear lights yet and have a wet rear drivers footwell. boot is also wet but would be nice to know where to start looking.

rear mount rattle?
theblueflash replied to theblueflash's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
i gave vw a call on saturday and got a price for top mounts and asked how many i'd need for the car and they said 2. the rears are just seperate parts. no kit as such just a spring disc and bearing. suppose it cant hurt to change them both sides anyway. but would that make a knocking sound like front top mounts? -
clunk sound from under car??
theblueflash replied to theblueflash's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
any in particular? or shall i change them all? best ones for the job? -
noise coming from high up on drivers side rear. i dont think there are top mouints on the rears???? maybe just a bearing? does that wear out or is something else likely to cause the knocking thanks Duncan
-
yea i'll just take the console out again and remove some of the card and spread a thin layer inside. should sort it out.
-
d'oh. i actually work in composites. wh ythe hell didnt i think of that!!!! gotta stop drinking so much on friday nights i think! cheers for the advice

hi. i took my vr to the bodyshop for a quote today and coming off - going back on throttle and occasionally pulling away from a standstill there seems to be a clunking sound coming from the pedal area. maybe the centre of the car. the w'bone bushes have been done by last owner i think and the top mounts almost certainly need doing or am i looking a an engine/gearbox mount needing replacing? cheers
-
hi. i think that the sunroof controls have been out a few times in my car as the roof lining isnt as stiff as it once was. to the point where pushing the sunroof button lightly depresses the whole area! the card type material which is under the lining has split/crumbled. any ideas on how i can stiffen it up without replacing the lining? cheers

how much are you asking for it?
