another new thread from me. got an impending m.o.t and surprise suprise the gremlins are out to get me. ive got a strange rubbery squeek coming from under the fromt of the car. cant tell what side. seems to get a little louder when manouverring. you can only hear it a very low speeds, like pulling away and parking. this is accompanied by a knock on the passenger side. im guessing top mounts but it really is loud and i can hear it when im driving and with the stereo on! ive been under the car and tugged and pulled as much as i can but nothing will budge and nothing looks excessively worn. i di

ok this just got more confusing. aparently i am right with the decreasing 'et' by adding spacers/adapters but its just been mentioned to me on ed38 that 1mm doesnt =1et. which is what i was always told. so the et32 with 20mm adapters would be more like et22 or there abouts. not 12 like i originally thought. jesus this is confusing. why is choosing new wheels so difficult. im gonna need more help with this i think. i dont want them too tucked, but a 20mm adapter is a big difference and i dont want them running silly wide. here is what im shopping for if you hadnt already guessed. maybe not th

http://www.raceandroad.com/technical-help/alloy-wheel-offset.html quite clearly explained here matey according to that picture the further the centre of the wheel moves from the hub the more negative the 'et' so if the wheels im thinking of buying are et32 and i add 20mm spacers i thought the number decreased? as per the diagram... moved into the negative? if thats wrong i am confused. as for the re-drilled wheel in that pic, you couldnt pay me to drive with them on my car! is there even any alloy left between the hole and the hub

ive got one of these on my vr i believe its the original alarm but its doing strange things and wanted to ask a few of you if any issues have been heard of before. firstly the range on the fobs are useless, even with fresh batteries. - if i lock then unlock the windows will roll down. sometimes both side sometime one or the other. - if i lock the car with the fob, then unlock with the key, the alarm should sound. no alarm. but there is a clicking sound coming from the dash and the red light blinks. (siren knackered?) any help on this would be greatly appreciated as its pretty annoying not k

i quite like the RS's. are they all bmw or jap fitment? i cant seem to find any 5x100. i assume they did porsche which would be my next choice as i already have adaptors anyone know any members who run them, that can post pics up. would love to see how they sit on the car. -
Im not entirely sold on my golf sitting on 928's. before i decide to get them polished I thought id look at a few more that took my fancy. anybody put names to these faces for me some maybe the same but i have been looking at wheels for about two hours so at the moment they all look the same to me! think these are OZ, not sure which will add to the list as i find them.... watch this space

also had time to get the polisher out and attack a horible rotary scar on the bonnet I stupidly didnt take a pic of the bonnet before but it was very hazy however you looked at it. looked like the buffer had got away from someone, the scar was about 2ft long. bumpers are the worst for this. they seem to be a little dull. almost like there hasnt been any polish or wax at all on them. they are like 2000 grit wet/or/dry when you run your hand over them. so I gave the front bumper a polish and a few coats of glaze/wax you can just make out what i mean before after

never got round to taking photos of the new sills and jacking points. so here are a few armour plated jacking points!! nice clear drain holes the sills are so good now i can basically jack the car up anywhere i like been a busy week. with work/working on the car/driving it I picked the car up wednesday evening and straight away fitted my scabby 928's so the stupid A3 spec profile tyres didnt rub my paint off. here are a few close ups of the finish. Its a pretty good job. always reluctant trying a new bodyshop out but im happy with the work on it. I had two new front wings put on as there

cheers. bit different i must admit. never seen one on the road before. make a nice project someday

just seen this thread. i know its old and i hope whoever was asking didnt go through with it. dont know of any other specific companies who do the job. competant bodyshop maybe but for god sakes DONT use arch enemy. they are as stated self employed as such representatives of the company who tell you to check this and check that. if something isnt right or they cant do the job for whatever reason they still charge you a £40 call out fee!!!! friend has had his done and they cut an inch of his arch lining out to 'aid' clearance!!! they stoved his floor pan in jacking the car up and wouldnt take

safe? cost? never thought about it as they stick so bloody far out. would need some serious camber adjustment to get them to tuck in. the arches are rolled but cant stretch to flaring etc. -

the answer to the question is no, they wont fit. this is a pic of them on the car without any spacers. obviously with 20mm adapters (thinnest i know that are available) they will be et0 and are going to stick out a mile. -
firstly, is this a genuine vr6 cat? reason i ask is I can hear slight blowing and have worked out that its coming from a small hole. you can see it on the left. its not a blown hole its machined and about 8mm. anyone know what this is for? seem a little strange to have a hole in a cat like this cheers

they were kerchers and they were 5x100 so a straight fit. so im thinking the bmw rims will sit a little further in. I sold them a few weeks ago. sorry
