no help so far from any places ive asked. had someone tell me that its a cheap alarm made in italy. company now bust. which is prob a blessing as just replacing the siren with an original or aftermarket wouldnt keep me happy. its really getting on my tits now. the fobs, even with new battteries just dont seem to work v.well. I stood in the heavy rain for almost 5 minutes the other day trying to get into my car. was pushing the button so many times i managed to unlock then lock it straight away! Grrrrr!!! just seem to work when it wants to. distance is poor but on occasion it will work from abo

sticking my nose in here. fairly new to the vr scene but ive had 3 vr6's this year already. 1 rado, two golfs. all of which have been the wrong purchase for a number of reasons. partly due to me not checking a few things and some underlying issues. i would say the 2.8 is better than the 2.9 rado lump. my latest golf vr seems just as quick as the rado did. if not a little quicker. and the build quality is negligable. both have there faults... mainly rust. as ive dealt with it on all the vrs ive had so far. id say it was a matter of taste. both cars are comfortable to drive. but both can be driv

quick update. been a painful few weeks of ownership as a few niggles have decided to appear. had all the heatshields from the cat back close to falling off as the star washers holding them on had rotten. so i bought some new ones and hammered them back in place. the suspension, as you've prob read is a nightmare. almost certainly got fucked top mounts, wishbone bushes and rear mounts (if there are any?! something is still knocking back there) and the car managed to fail its first m.o.t with me last week. after spending hours trying to trace bad earths/connections around the car with only 3 o

any info on the rear top mounting would be helpful. 2 vw garages have no idea. there are a number of parts on there diagram. bolts, washers, cups etc. but no kit. is anything going to be worth replacing as i havent got the time to take the car apart, check, order put it back together then take it all off again.

that would be seriously helpful mate. thanks. will get me through an m.o.t as nobody seems to stock any coilover sets. which means im waiting well into next week for delivery. if i can get a set before the weekend i get a free re-test. cheap i know but when your running out of pennies £50 just to tell me a coilover is ok is a little wasteful. out of interest what make is it? how much did you want to send it?

ordering new coilies tomorrow morning. everything is sounding really loose on the car. as ive already got a set of compbrake front top mounts to fit is there anything else i need? particularly for the rear as its really noisy. be handy to get it all ordered up so i can do it all at the same time. cheers

not hard to understand now mate. if id seen the calculator beforehand i wouldnt have asked. the problem is the clearance & poke the rs's will give. its my everyday drive so unfortunately have to compromise in a few areas. if i didnt have farm lanes, b-roads & motorways to deal (not to mention the potholes!) with on my commute id just buy them, stick them on and slam it.

thanks for the advice and offers guys. paul. the hole on the cat might not need welding after all. i got under it this aft (in the rain!) and there was the leftovers of a nut or something. the part with the hole is threaded on the outside so id need a blanking plug with a female thread. which is even easier. i managed to wind the remains off with mole grips. you can just see the thread inside. the rest has obviously rusted and snapped off. as for the shocks i may just bite the bullet and get a new set. awesome gti have got a few offers on and the weitecs sound like a good deal for the mon

M.O.T Failed!!! spent last night hunting for earth wires and getting the indicators to work and that turned out to be the least of my problems n/s front shock dead n/s front tyre slashed on inner exposing chords centre of exhaust not supported properly failed emmissions test - "massively" according to the tester gutted nothing on that list that i expected either. thought it was going to be suspension that was the issue. little surprised at the coilovers failing. now where did i put that magic lamp?!

HELP!! earthing locations
theblueflash replied to theblueflash's topic in I.C.E, Security an Electrical
rear cluster connections had rust on them. gave them a clean and it works. the o/s side repeater has a dodgy connection in the bulb holder so i need to go to veedub or the scrapyard first thing as its fubar. thanks for all the hints. did check the earths first, including the one under the battery tray. thanks for the help guys. fingers crossed there isnt too much wrong with it tomorrow. -
anybody clued up on this or have any sort of diagram/tech drawing. i need to know as ive got an m.o.t tomorrow morning and my o/s indicator (on the wing) works intermitantly and the o/s rear doesnt work at all. tried changing bulbs. they are fine. at the rear i swapped the housings for the bulbs round to see if one was faulty but they both work in the n/s. a multimeter reads fine on the n/s but virtually nothing on the o/s which im assuming is a bad earth. any help greatly appreciated or its no m.o.t for me!!
