sounds like what happened to mine two weeks ago but£1500 later and she is good as new i think it was the oil cooler or head gasket but i done a complete overhaul on the engine....
Right i thought id get the ball rolling with a new thread for the next team south meet who`s up for it again, if every one wants to post there ideas and time slots (week or week end etc) we can go from there.....
right paul came round today to help build the engine back up we got it running but it was a bit lumpy so now ive been out for a drive and its fine until its at tick over and then it sounds like its missing can some one point me in the right direction (ive got champion eon plugs fitted but not sure if they are gapped right would this cause the lumpy idle?) any help would be great.........
when i was stripping the head off of the block there is a oil return cut off valve threaded screw thing with a spline bit head on that screws into the block in the top left corner is there a particular position this needs to be in i could`nt find anything about it through searching and the peter russek book i have only tells me what it is ......
goth mate its only done 108,000 any way quick update got the head off tonight and that does`nt look to clever either its got about 2-3mm deep patches of corrosion in between 2 of the water jackets dont know what im going to do now still got the vr love though just need a new head lol here are those pics paul i spoke to you about....
i dont know what happened because it was running perfectly got home turned the car off and started stripping it then i come across all of this close one though i dont think it would be running in a couple of weeks if i was still driving it
