I don't know this for sure but I'm sure that people got the wider belt then razor bladed one or two of the ribs off to make it the required number of V's wide.

tbh I couldnt either, then while i was buggering about with something else, someone in the garage just popped it out.

The chains are a piece of piss really, all of the sprockets have timing marks so it's really straightforward and user friendly. I think the best thing to say is that you be really methodical and if you want to check it you can easily hand crank the engine and see if everything still lines up after 2 rotations

get it sniffed to check for exhaust in the coolant, caps are cheap get a new one just so you know its not that either

What Luke said, made a difference for me when I purged the brakes, if possible. Have been reading that the brake feel isn't great when compared to modern cars.
If you drive one back yo back, it isn't, but the power is still there just not a feather touch right at the top of the pedal, I only noticed this in hindsight though

this is older but illustrates it better because its metal so the colour contrasts, the black should be fully removed, yours being flush it will have shrunk
it should be plumped up and proud, like this
