    hmmm.... weird, if your belt tensioner goes it whines when you drive, as mine did, but it also rattled on tick over, you can only hear this when you are stationary and looking at the engine, might be worth a check anyway as its easy to do, also you could jack the car up and give the front wheels a pull about, if one has movement when you pull the top and push the bottom and the other doesnt then its prob a wheel bearing.... they are the easiest things to check, other than that i dont know... ill leave that to someone else to answer, lol.

    Do you have a rattle from the left side of the block under your fuel pipes when stationary???

    Is it def an engine noise?? Not a whurrr like a wheel bearing?? if not then it could be your belt tensioner pulley, the bearings can go after a while, its a 10 min job to check it so might be worth doing that first.

    I just wanna say that VR6-DUB is officially a bloody legend, he's sending me some replacement indicators and reflectors for FREE!!! Propa restored my faith in human nature and once again proved that this site has got some really good people on it. Just need the fogs now and im back on track!
