knowledge is power they say lol! This is great...
  4. I think it all boils down to budget though, best of luck whatever you decide chap!
  5. I wouldn't push your standard box anymore than 300-350 max. Matty has given you a fair list there and prices to match! I myself have just started buying again for the same job lol. Its a never ending shopping list! I have had lots of people ring me for gearboxes over the years and the story goes! "I was running 350bhp on a standard clutch and it was fine for 6 months, then I upgraded the clutch and my gearbox went pop". This seems to be a common issue seems a shame to do all the work and destroy your fun so early on! Get the turbo in run very low boost until you have the transmission to
  6. My 1st every VR was 240K and my Mrs reckons it was the quickest N/A one I have owned lol However I am on 80K now
  7. I think we will do this one! Its 3 1/2 hours away though so whats the starting time again?? NO BEER Friday 27th lol
  8. The daily posts come from "So what did you do to your VR6 Today" of Peoples build threads However I feel its becoming can I afford to do anything to my VR this month and build threads are taking longer! I really don't think its through any fault of the club more a sign of the times. Facebook doesn't help either!
  9. Well ere we go! 1) Are we doing anything wrong? - NO YOUR NOT times have just changed slightly and so have vehicles there is diesels out there packing as much punch as a standard VR with cheaper TAX, Insurance & Running Costs. People seem to be heading that way. We are on the next gen of members now I think! I think some of the long time members see new members joining daily and asking the same questions that have been asked time and time before. There is only so many questions that can be asked about one engine so to speak. Although its a new member it does get repetitive for the l
  10. Raddos are obd1 unless converted if memory serves me right. I have seen plenty of big powered raddos. Although if you are going down the forge piston and rod route, it doesn't really matter as the engine will be built for large power. So it knob da defeats the purpose of the post lol. As it won't be a standard OBD1. IMO
  11. Was a fantastic day! Even my Mrs enjoyed herself! Which is strange considering there was no hair stylist or nail painter in sight!
  12. Lol mate was good to meet you too chap. Thing is its a way of life I had one that was a little rough but she was mine and I loved her. Then as life got a little easier I got a nicer one and so on! You proved on the rollers she has the power. Just take take time and improve! Was great to meet the family too bud keep up the good work.
  13. Yeah it was good Craig and don't worry I won't sell this one anytime soon mate
  14. Just updated it I am sure I selected them right the first time round ha!
  15. Plenty more to come, was a cracking day and a real pleasure to put a face to the club id or vehicle! Now for my personal favourite obviously as the models are two of my stunning daughters who were also in their element as with all good breeding they love the VR!
  16. Can't decide which to bring MK5 GTi or MK3 VR6, Just so down with the VR at the minute! Smashed fog, massive stone chip on fresh paint! To top it off I broke two clips on the vento grill today when I remove it Sh1te times!
  17. I know it might be a stupid question but did you use new bolts? Would be strange for a cast block to warp as Pete says, could just be down to the gasket mate although I do feel for you. Nothing worse than putting in the effort and standing back thinking its all done only for something else to crop up and piss you off! I guess we are all use to it by now its just vr6 ownage!
  18. If you can't hammer a larger spline bit into it try a hammer an chisel just to get that first movement once you do it should unwind fine with the correct size (hope that makes sense lol) Before attempting it though you may want to put another bolt back in and tighten it up so all the down pressure isn't on the one your trying to remove. If at the end of it you need and bolts let me know can pop a few in the post! As Luke says plenty of extensions and a screw driver in a vented disc to stop things from spinning is how I would do it now, the best bit of advice is always make sure the spline
  19. In all fairness many moons ago I was driving a 320I when I decided to change it I wanted another SR Nova! While looking the Mrs convinced me to buy my 1st Golf an 8 Valver MK2 GTI as the MK2 GTI was her dream car lol She just prefers her B6 passat as it has a massive boot. Gonna spend a little time today cleaning and fitting my standard airbox back on ready for an early start tomorrow! Gethin as you are over the pond you should be allowed a video entry into tomorrows competition, don't ya think bud haha
