  3. The latest engine i have has a nasty missfire and no power, This has come after the front subframe dropped on the passenger side and made one side of the engine drop a few inches. I first thought i had snagged a wire or sensor but i havent. Codes where coming up with lambda sensor, The Goth lent me a lambda very kindly but it didnt fix the problem. The thing is is i have had a comprssion test done and the results where odd. Cylinder 1 > 150 Cylinder 3 > 110 Cylinder 5 > 100 Cylinder 2 > 150 Cylinder 4 > 110 Cylinder 6 > 100 the side that is

  5. Just changed the fuel pump relay and things are so much better, doesnt sound like its starving any more. Still a little missfire but i have been fiddling with leads so maybe they are not in properly somewhere. Does this sound like the sort of problem a fuel pump relay causes? Hoping all is nearly sorted.
  6. Hey another problem and hoping for some more advice. Just completed a vr6 swap and all was fine untill last night. The front subframe had not been tightened enought on the passenger side by the person that was helping me, thus resulting in the front of the engine dropping forward last night. After this happened i felt my power steering go and hesitation on throttle. I pulled up straight away and got a taxi. I have gone back this morning started the car after putting the subframe back and it is missing. It had no power and seriouse hesitaion throughout the whole rev range, foot to the floor a

  8. i had this problem yesterday. I also thought they where not numbered, but they are, just not very visable! look in the grooves either side of where the leads go in, There is like recessed lines, The order is in there!
  9. Well i have almost completed my engine swap now. Putting a obd2 lump in a obd1 car (staying obd1 and not changing the complete loom) Taking way too long due to constant stop start weather! The last thing to do is change the 42 pin wiring plug (think thats what it is, the bit where you plug your engine electricals into the cars) and put the obd1 intake manifold on. i have taken my obd2 inlet manifold off ready for the obd1 to be put on but i have just thought that maybe i have to take the whole unit off. I can see i have to unclip all the injector electrics off and change them for my obd1 lo

  11. phat vr6, as you have just said that i have just finished for the day re shelling it. lol. I have bought a obd1 vr6 for £300 (m reg) absolutely mint with the bottom end gone. I am in the process of swapping the engine over, i am leaving all the loom the same and putting the obd1 inlet manifold on my perfect obd2 engine so i can hold the throttle body and avoid having to touch the loom. Been rather a long day as im only learning now. things going well and hoping to have it all done by tuesday. Hope it works when i put it back together!!!
  12. lol, i have a complete obd 2 car, would be using this as a donor car (chassis twisted). So have everything i could need. The loom would be the same wouldnt it? so would it just be a case of the engine would plug into the existing loom. Maybe with just some adapting, and without having to swap entire loom through the interior?

I have sourced a m reg vr6 with a good body and was wondering would my engine (a 96 p reg) go straight in? is there any difference in body or any thing, i.e brakes, air bags, loom etc. I dont want to be getting a shell that doesnt have the same extra's as mine (especially passenger air bag) Thanks again
  14. ok, well ive just inspected the radiator hoses after leaving the engine running for ten mins (to get to normal operating temp) and the top radiator hose is hot and the bottom one isnt, so im guessing that the problem is most likely the second hand radiator ive bought. Sorry to bombared you all with constant ?'s just im at a bit of a loose end and dont really want to be paying silly labour costs. ;-)
  15. I drove about half a mile after the incident with coolent leaking all the way, two minutes worth of driving max. Il put some more coolent in and blead it through again.

Well i went and got someone to look over it today and he said it doesnt look good. started going on about it could run any where from 200 upwards, maye even have to strip the car down to do a proper job, some signs of damage in the roof or something and the alignment of the door. (really doesnt feel that bad to me but hey) so i suppose im now looking for a mk3 shell to drop my lump into, maybe a nice one with a blown engine or something, or even a mk2, just not to sure which way to go.
  17. I had a little crash the other week and done my radiator and fans in, i replaced these with second hand units and all was fine untill yesterday. Basically the top radiator hose split yesterday and sprayed engine coolant all over my engine, was replaced and today the new one (second hand) popped off the radiator and sprayed coolent every where again. what could be causing this? Car is nothing but problems atm and its getting me down.
  18. ok guys thanks, 200 ish is not too bad, what i was hoping for really, having a few new panels put on, bit of smoothing and covering. So all in all a few extra hundred quid to make a job done well is good. makes me feel a lot better. Any ideas on what sort of body shop i should go to? just a accident repair centre?
  19. Do you know how much it would roughly cost to be jigged? The car doesnt shake, rattle, feel unstable at all. Has a little pull but think its due to tracking after coily's. Thought it maybe the arm part the the outter wing bolts down onto? as the end of this has no paint spray. Thanks again mate,
  20. Basically my car is in for a full respray in two weeks time. I have today put a vento front end on it and when sitting infront of the car looking head on, i can see that the passenger side light, bonnet and wing sit lower than the drivers side. (floor clearence is still the same along the front splitter). So i looked at the inner wing and noticed that it has had some new crap weld in places. I then looked and it appears the cross member (if thats what it is, the bit of plastic that goes from one side to the other with the bonnet catch on) sits lower on the passenger side than drivers.   23. thanks andrew, very appreciated. it would probably be cheaper to fly you hear and put you up than the bill for the car too, lol. I have got a rough quote of 13 hours labour, and a approx price of about 650/700 to have the head gasket and valves done together, inlet, exhaust and valve guides. So i dont think thats too bad, just hope its nothing else. would hate to pay them to open it up and its a no goer!! Hvr6 its st albans i went too. Why what s up? they are asking silly money on labour but luckily let me off £50 on the diagnostics.
  24. hey mate, i can ask if they checked that, but how would they, wouldnt compression go down any way? like i say i have a leakedge test on monday, ould this show?? I dont see it being pistons or rings as there is no smoke really, doesnt ever come out when im driving. what do you mean by re-torquing tho mate, pretty new to cars so my knowledge is limited!! thanks for the reply and your time
