    i drove it only for a few miles when it was hot, ive been noticing for a week or two that it was underpowered, although it is a possibility what your saying, i havent had i chance to look at it properly, but if the headgasket has gone then obviously i would replace and perhaps put it on a VAG-COM from a kind soul on this site.............................in addition to the symtoms i thought the exhaust had gone as well as it sounded like it was blowing, so 1) it overheated 2) got an oil leak 3) exhaust blowing...all add up to what maybe be one problem not two or three although any comments on

    turns out could be the head gasket, broke down today overheated followed by oil leak, followed by substantial loss of power, really peed off, oh well thats what happens when you have a 13 year old car........................ +o(

    No i didnt but will do, firstly it stopped then i panicked thinking it was something terrible, then i put this post up then as i was writing it i realised it started when i jet washed the underneath !!.....what a muppet !..........it hasnt done it since , obviously when your pride and joy stops first thing you do is get stressed then all logical thought goes out the window.............thanks for your comments................. :-p

    Today all of a sudden the engine dropped power the accelerator seems to do nothing and the revs went between 500-1400 revs like someone was prodding the throttle i turned it off waited for a bit then it started and went fine. Its happened a couple of times the only thing i can think of is that i Jet Washed the underside of the engine could it be a bit of damp or is it a symptom of something more serious,?............ all suggestions will be welcome...................... :-p

    i think it is needed but ford do the part a lot cheaper than vw, im sure on this site somewhere is the part number, i would take it to a ford parts department, i think they charge about £27 IIRC and vw charge £70................ :-p

    Ive just done mine over last weekend, it took me and my mate about 10 hours most of which was spent phaffing around but we got there eventually..........................

    I didnt no i got black diamond and they looked like they were coated in some matt black stuff, that took a while to wear off but even so they took ages to bed in..................... :-p

    I changed the front disks / pads about two months ago and what i noticed was that they took ages to bed in, they did get sharper in time but it took some aggressive braking to get them there, so i would say persevere (unless there is anything mechanically wrong) after fitting the new brakes they scared the hell out of me cos they were terrible, now they are really good..................... :-p

    that round green thing is (i think) something to do with the vacuum pipe system, i had one very similar on an Audi 80 many years ago..................................all it is is a hollow ball which has a vacuum pipe going into it...............Oh yea nice colour car mate............ :-p

    was that on mfa 1 cos if it was warm when you started it then mpg will be quite high. Ive never had anything over 34.5 too many open roads where i live......................my mfa 2 says 28.9 after about 2k which i dont think is too bad......................... :-p

    some of their prices are ok, its just a bit of a poncy place like a wine bar that sells car parts if you know what i mean (!?) , i was looking at the toyo r888 and they look really good but they cant be used in freezing conditions which may be a problem in Germany in march, cos they start cracking they are advertised as track day tyres but are road legal (i think)................the expert as you say probably had a cracking haircut but not much ideas about cars.............. :-p

    mmm still dont know whether to go for PS3 or the 360................... and the driver of the SR-8 was awesome he had some dangly bits the size of a small house............. :-p

    Ive got gt4 on a ps2 and apparently they spent three months going over the track getting it right, i think i'll be playing it a lot more soon......................and ive got one of those force feedback steering wheels, it is quite exciting without the danger of flying off into the scenery ruining your pride and joy................ :-p

    Mmm thats what i thought, its ok as a shop if you've got a nova and a burberry cap, its run by Jason Ripp or whatever his name is the one who started Ripspeed, oh no ive said it now , just off to wash my mouth out.......................... :-p

    Would that be r-tec in Hatfield Herts or have i got that wrong?.........these seem like the tyre of choice for the ring then............................. :-p
