by the way dont take any notice of what i wrote previously i was a bit drunk !!!............................and i would have got away with it as well if it werent for those pesky kids............................ :-p

i think the main losses would be in the bearings of the gearbox and wheels, obviously friction is the thing that slows cars down, where you have heat you have friction, and where you have metel on metel you get friction however well the surfaces are lubricated, so maybe the biggest losses would be from the teeth of the cogs in the gearbox, as they rub against each other. I know there was some research done about 15 years ago and they deduced that the average family car is only 13% efficient, but if you bear in mind that a bicycle chain is only 87% efficient then it seems believable............

wasnt me either , i think you would have recognised me, not many red rado's in herts........................... :-p

nice motor mate, i like the colour, i like the picture as well very arty !...........welcome to you............... :-p

you may need to go to the corrado forum, but dont tell anyone i said that..........from what i remember if you find out its nothing electrical then it may be the mechanism behind the knob (excuse the pun !) i believe they have some kind of metal linkage (similar to some lock mechs in the door) and in time these flex/break or just become unhinged (back to the puns) like i said have a look at the other forum if the previous suggestions dont work, good luck........................ :-p
-
i cant imagine what my life was like before my Rado.........oh yes i can BORING !!!...........cheers sean.......... :-p
-
just ordered a set of coilies for my Rado and scouring the rado forum they said that i would need 5mm spacers at the rear, sounds like you need your front arches rolled or just raise it up a bit, i would strongly recommend you get the right tool, really it should have come with a tool so if i were you approach your supplier and see what they say.........to do the job right get the right tool.............. :-p
-
my thinking was that as old as our cars are the top bushes would be shagged the springs have seen their best days long ago, and if you dont want it lowered you dont have to !. My front shocks are original, so its just a question of time before they go, and we are going to the ring, need i say more ?..........thanks for the offer sean its very generous but i should be ok, .............i spend about 2-4 hours every weekend cleaning mine, so your not alone..................obviously if you ever need a hand let me know i like getting my hands dirty......................... :-p
-
yea i had already read that thread but would be helpful to anyone reading this thread...............if that makes any sense.................. :-p
-
if its an OBD2 engine then i wouldnt worry cos they revised the guides and they should last a very long time................................. :-p
-
yea thats what jim said at VW players, mine gets looked after very well the oil is changed as soon as it gets dirty, cheers for putting my mind at ease.............................. :-p
-
that certainly looks very interesting................................ :-p

i am completely paranoid about my chains going but on vr's its more the guides which when worn may cause the chains to slip, but like you may change these when i hear any sort of noise at all, but at the mo cant hear anything at all so im trying not to think about it too much.................im fine mate thanks ive just ordered some coilovers from the group buy, so am looking forward to putting these on pre-"ring", hope you and family are fine..............(obviously including your VR!).................... :-p
-
i would suggest Sean that these are obtain from a main stealer anyway so the cost would (or should be) the same. have you found on this site where you can listen to a sound clip of rattling chains and compare the sound with yours. i had a chat with Jim about this at VW players and he said until it starts making a noise dont worry about it. my car has done 97k but i get no noise, having said that when they do start getting noisy then the chain guides are well and truly knackered, but im not sure of the wisdom of changing things just in case they are worn, because where do you stop?..........but

thats shockingly bad news, i also had a bad accident 3 1/2 years ago and it effected me a lot, just keep your chin up mate, and look forward to another VR6................ :-p

nice motor mate obviously got good taste, hopefully its just an oil over-fill, otherwise could be ££££.................the only other place ive found rust is just in front of the back wheels where the water drains from the wheel arches it is difficult to spot but have a good look.................... :-p
