  1. Looking nice and low! Don't prefer the front repeaters as well, but something different I guess.
  2. Looks tidy, when are you painting the front grill?
  3. Hello All, My wife quite fancies the MK5 Gti, so we are currently looking for one, anyone knows what these cars are like, common issues to look for on test drives and so on? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Also read somewhere that the DSG gearboxes are problematic, not sure what to go on? Thanks
  4. Well I got one of the power chips guy on ebay, still in the packaging, problem is that the later OBD1's (1995) have the original chip soldered onto the ecu mainbaord, which means I have to get someone to desolder the old chip and fit the new chip on.....anyone know who could help?
  5. That sounds like a good price, is it not good idea to have chains replaced inspected whilst the gearbox is off?
  6. Ahh, good decision! Post some pics when you have them.
  7. The bottom of the steering looks a bit suspicious, but then again it could just be dirty/dusty, apart from that it looks really mint?? Seats, engine all looks spanking new.Surelty VAG UK will be interested in such a car? VAG meseum or collection? Just noticed that the gearknob also looks dodgy. Btw I will not pay above £2.5K for that.....personal preference!

  12. I think it might be this one, someone please correct me if I am wrong........also they are £7,50 from GSF. The sensor for the dash would be the brown one. The sensor for the ECU is the blue one The A/C is the yellow one [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1197665964_5799_FT210455_thermo.jpg][/lightbox]
  13. Apparently there are two on the thermostat, one controls the temp guage, the other is the temp sender to the ecu which is the one to replace, Phat VR6 recomended that you unplug one at a time to see which one is correct as if you disconnect the one to the temp guage you won't get a reading................
  14. A very, very long plier does the trick, well it worked for me
  15. V!rus where in SA are you, I am originally from Sa as well.....Durb's...
  16. I think you did, but wanted to check with others if this might be considered as abnormal before replacing the sensor, do you know how much they cost? Thanks again........
  17. Now I know Vr's are very thirsty cars, but I think mine is a bit more than others, for example I filled up last night for £46, drove to work and back, 8miles return (50% traffic) and this is where the fuel guage sits. The car was parked on a straight surface whilst picture was taken and was the needle was at the full mark last night, after this picture was taken I drove the car a further 2 miles and now the guage is dead centre of the last quarter, when I first got it it used to do around 180 miles on the tank, but the last tank only gave me 120 miles whilst driving conservatively . Do you th
