  4. gotta be worth someone organising a bulk buy of these to try get the price down for club members, i mean afterall a mk3 at best is going to be 10yrs old by now with some as far as 15yrs so many of us are going to need one of these even if its just to keep aside for safety sake,
  5. guys i know this can take a whole year of questions, suggestions and ideas but im just after the basics what can i use to fill the indicator hole's? its a rather large opening and i dont do plastic welding so thats out of the question. (indicators to be moved into mk4 style lights) can i epoxy (or grip fill, its a bodgers best friend) some plastic rectangles into place then smooth over them or will the epoxy crack under the paint and ruin the finish? whats the best way to key the surface to get the fibre glass to stick? should i use fibre glass mat and smooth that or glass filler and smooth th

  15. you may find that you also have the larger size throttle body. its practically the same size as the rado one but has the restriction bump just infront of the butterfly. if you check it against a obd2 tb you will be supprised by the difference. i had the same confusion on my 93 golf, had coil pack but was obd1. these engines do feel better than normal due to this usually. im not sure why they are like this but they rev very freely and are not as sluggish low down like a normal vr with a harder kick kick when it comes into its power band
  16. ive gotta try fixing it for him asap coz he's talking bout selling the whole thing for under a grand when its still worth well over 2 if we can figure it out
  17. have a mini fault code reader that comes up with a code, and when i wipe the code its fine for 5 mins and drives ok then starts playing up again, its like the clutch is slipping when i try pulling away hard but when the code is deleted it pulls away fine, the code list that came with the reader dont list the code im getting and its been on vag com with no relevent gearbox codes coming up, its not my car its my brothers and he is far from mechanically minded so dont really make sense, but this is what i found when i tried doing it
  18. here it is at last currently under going an engine swap for a lower milage lump
  19. well i think thanks to the replys ive kind of ansered my own question, i knew these aregood engines and can happily see 200k if looked after so its gunna be a case of guarenteeing another 50 or so thousand miles with a freshen up and then i know ive got a good base to start wih.
  20. just a quick question guys, im not overly mechanically minded but like to have a bash at things myself, and have a little knowledge. i just want to check some things out before i go any further, my 93 vr (coil pack = obd2?) has done roket ship miles. 132,360 last check but still pulls like a train. a mechanic i know who regulaly works on performance dubs said its possibly the free'est revving standard vr engine hes come across, i've fitted an ashley cat back and a filter with cold air feed. (and what a sound). but would i be right in saying that due to engine age and wear im highly unlikely t
