  1. Sorry its quick... but here you go... http://www.doctronics.co.uk/resistor.htm scroll down
  2. Right very quikly as I gotta go.. assuming the mk3 watts is 21W then running at 12v we have 1.75amps. There for the resistance of a standard bulb should be 6.85ohms If you have a 5 watt bulb then your need current will be... 0.416amps. So you will need a restiance of 4.992 over all. add the two - gives us approx . 10 ohms... needed. Please feel free to check my maths.. as I rushed this Edit.. note this should be a high rating like a ceramic type as they have to distribute the 16watts of heat...
  3. if you are sure you have spark and fuel then really there are two other things to look at. Is the spark strong enough? and is it at the correct time? If you are dizzy then check contacts etc. If coil pack then use engine block and pliers. to check spark. After that you are looking at sensors or the ecu. May be worth disconnecting the battery for 10 mins and reseting as a last resort.. Do you have VAGCOM? anyone local who does???
  4. what were the mk3 ratings? then using the difference in watts use this formulae Resistance = Volts divided by Current and that should be ok for you. Or simply same formula. V=IxR and do for mk4 and mk3 - then the difference in two answers gives you the needed resitance value.. Good luck. PS if you know the rating of the mk3 bulb could youu pop it on my other thread... cheers
  5. was once tought a daft rhyme. Toyo proxies are poxy unles they are t1r's (tyres)... Kinda stuck with them... F1s if you can find 'em are corking. Not always cheap. the 205 x15s with that speed rating are not a big industry sellers so there are not many good'uns around from a branding perspective... I currently have Michelin pilote exilte 205 zr15 x 50s and they seem to be ok for the last couple of years in all conditions...

    meets ?

Yes mate we do! I'm in Herts! We tend to do ACE Cafe. Last Tuesday of the month is VAG night.. We meet at Tesco fuel station Watford. just off Jct 5 of M1 as it is on the way... times shuffle a little but usually 7-730pm http://www.ace-cafe-london.com/Events.aspx Also NWDubs meet regulalrly (3rd Monday of the month in Wembly) That said if you're bored and want to meet then post up and see who is just sitting around that day... Once you meet and exchange numbers it becomes easier.. I cant do this weeks ACE but if you pop a thread up asking who's going people will respond if they are doing
  7. any one know the ratings of the rear indicators? mine have not got anything written on them and one has gone. Cheers
  8. Excelent information there... Could you expand this a little further and talk about the modifactions we have all fitted and if/what impact that has on the oild we use. We are all basically 3 main modification areas.. which can overlap. They are peformance cams etc, then Turbos and finally Supercharged... Cheers
  9. I didnt think it was bad as a starter for 10..
  10. you do have several areas as mentioned. Yes it is possible to get an oil and water mix from eithe head gasket or the crackpipe/oil cooler exchange section. It is also possible that as it has been stood that there is some leaks over the time which are now seen. It is good that you are rebuilding the engine and as a safety then replace the gaskets... But you should also have the scrambled egg un the inside of the oil filler cap if the engine has had a heat and head gasket issue Remember you will not always see oil from the outside if the gasket has an issue....
  11. you will notice the difference once you put a decent set on.. Not sure who else do that size but worth looking at others. After all they're what keep you alive...
  12. people do forget no matter how your car is set up there are still 4 contact patches the size of your boots touching tarmac. What are you running on? Big name brandes or cheapies?
  13. dont forget it only comes on in one position not all light settings.....
  14. yup the thermostat (or lack of) always makes the engine run cooler. It also means everything takes longer to heat up and so yes a car is not operating efficiently if it is not in the correct temperature zone. Bad economy is usally fdown to crap plugs and Lambda failing or even dirty throttle body/MAF... Assuming you are not a full throttle everywhere in which case the economy is probably not bad...
  15. Oh I do respect any man that is braver than me..... PMSL.... You're gonna get huuuurrrrtttt... sing along now..... LOL
  16. well may i suggest chatting to those people on the links above and seeing what they did plus getting a decent drawing of the VW 1.4 lump and then tell us what the **** you do .... LOL Genuinely interested in this so please keep us posted on your findings...
  17. nope they're super slow and dont upset 100k cars at all...
