  1. hiya, ive still got it mate, its locked up in the garage looking all sorry for itself!!! i think im going to start work on it next year, but for now its just hauled up over the winter. i thought about selling it but i dont think id get much to be honest. its a shame because it still looks nice and shiny, just the arches under the plastics that are a problem
  2. ha ha i havent got time to break it, i'll sell it whole. Just use what i used,,,,a can of engine enamel! £5 from halfrauds!
  3. my worse fears are confirmed..... my HG is on its way out. its allowing exhaust gases into the water system, which is pressurizing the whole thing, which would explain the rock hard pipes and topping up of antifreeze. Oh well, guess im gonna part with the VR and get something else, so it'll be up for spares or repairs with pics to follow.....the irony is, ive just had a new 6month tax disc for it! RIP VR
  4. Hiya, i was reading from the water temp dial on the left. my oil temp on the digi mfa doesnt display a figure, it never has since ive owned the car.
  5. Hiya, its showing normal running temps, it fluctuates between 72 on a run, and 88 when standing in traffic. The fans come on about 88 then it declines to around 80 whilst standing. if its the water pump, how would i tell? and where is the main pump situated? Cheers!
  6. Hiya guys, i have recently been having problems with my coolant system. It has been over-pressurizing to the extent that its constantly letting out steam and anti freeze from the release hole in the header tank. I also have rock hard water pipes too. The aux water pump is starting to make some funny noises, and it seems like it struggling to start when i thy and turn the key. Does this indicate a HG failiure, or a water pump problem? If its the water pump, what am i meant to be looking for?!! Cheers people!
  7. i flushed the system today, and loads of crappy water came out, took an hour and half to flush completely. then i filled it back up with de ionised water and g12 antifreeze, and hey presto,, no foam at all, and no excess pressure, and no oil residue anywhere. Hopefully it'll last.....we will see!
  8. Hiya, im having the same problem as we speak!! My header tank is pressurizing slightly, and causing an oil substance to foam alittle on the water surface., The foam isnt thick, and fizzles away when the cap is opened. I was told it point to headgasket failure, but then someone told me it could be an airlock in the system?!??? im baffled as to what it is, but at the moment i have drained all the water out the system and taken off the header tank and cleaned it. I will flush the system with clean water first to see if it turns cloudy and foams again. Hopefully it'll be nowt serious, i'll keep y
  9. hi guys its the 233 bulb that i need. what threw me was the metal holder that it sits in. When i looked at the back of the light unit, alls i could see was a spade sticking out where the bulb should have been , but as i pulled it i found it was the holder! Sorry people, i feel abit thick now! Feel free to take the mick! HA HA
  10. i had a side light bulb pop on me and when i came to replace it, it wasnt the 501 wedge bulb i thought it would be. Any ideas as to what it is and what i should be replacing it with? Cheers. (i)
  11. i think your doing the right thing by getting it checked out, it could be something superficial, and at least you'll know where you stand.
  12. mine does this on occasion its the oil pressure i think. i leave mine for about 25 seconds and then the light stays solid, which would indicate the pressure has built up. it hasnt give me any problems.....yet! i also have a slight oil leak from the rocker, which i haven;t managed to sort out yet!
  13. As you know i had some welding done for the re-mot, and trading standards got involved....and cut a long story short the managed to get £100 off the guy who sold me the car to help towards the cost of the repairs, and he was really fine about it too.
  14. sorted the engine mount too! its a solid one, and really works well, reducing the movement on the engine and lifting on /off throttle doesn't make me cringe now!! thanks for the advice guys
