  1. Does it not say in the owners manual where it gives technical information?
  2. Probably coincidence as your original plugs didn't work. Start with basic diagnostics like is there a spark at the plugs? (easiest way is to remove a lead at a time, put one of your spare plugs in, hold it against and earth with insulated pliers as you get someone to turn it over if it's a dizzy, if it's coilpack put spare plug in one connector at a time and repeat the above procedure), can you hear ticking from the injectors when turning over? Is the fuel pump running etc?
  3. When I had my 3 door highline, I had a bit of a race with someone which ended in a whine on the passenger side. When I investigated it turned out that my outer CV boot had decided to do the off, grease everywhere. Now before I hear cries of "but if the CV joint goes, it ticks and clonks, not whines" then I would be the first to agree with you as i've never heard one do that before, but true blue and £120 lighter, new CV joint boot and grease, problem solved. Maybe worth a look.
  4. Not sure how clever the ECU's on these are but on some other cars when the lambda sensor fails, closed loop fuelling reverts to a safe fuel map which is purposefully rich to protect the engine, almost like a "get you home mode". If you have a known good one to swap it out with, i'd start there.
  5. As I have been thinking further about this idea, I was looking at a mk5 I have in work and wondered would it look any good if I removed the originals, plated and filled the doors and had a stab at putting mk5 type rubbing strips on for a bit of fresh style?? Or has anyone done this?? Many thanks
  6. H13VYY lol, Lizard racing, thanks for the tech info, though I think it's easier if I stick to dark blue (If I can get hold of it). 407BHP VR I cannot believe you're offering me outside purely for getting the colour of my car wrong, but you also have some literacy issues. Now re-read my replies, where actually does it say I currently have a VR to bring to a show, or that I am the wrong person to mess with? Get a life man
  7. That was my second thought, think I may go with that idea, and yes I think you're right about the doors looking featureless without strips, I suppose just high build prime and colour coding fits the bill quite nicely?
  8. Would it look even more pants if I was to dehandle the doors and go completely smooth with it? I've got no problems at all with welding plates etc as I have a BS4872 in TIG welding.
  9. I'm nice honestly Mr Moderator sir!! I don't wish to get on the wrong side of anybody, I find this site and the people great, and am going to need help if my new project gets up on wheels, consider my wrist slapped *Ouch*
  10. Hi, after a long time away, and after stupidly selling my beautiful 3 door highline, I have the opportunity of acquiring a '94 dark blue 5 door vr6 for literally next to nothing (identical to the one in my avatar). I would love to do something a bit different and was wondering if any of you lads or lasses had removed your rubbing strips altogether and smoothed out the doors?? Is this a good look, or is it pants?? Cheers
  11. Note to Blondie, I really am not the one with the problem here, I was merely seeking my old car, it's numbnuts with the OCD about colours that has the issue, i'm chill, honest!!
  12. Excuse me? How rude are you!! Well before you go correcting people, try picking up a dictionary before you are made to look like a complete chump, it's ignorance not ignorence, anybody with a decent secondary education would have known that..... I suggest you sort that attitude of yours out before you lip off to the wrong person, because I see it's not only me you've been rude to....
  13. And you're bothered because?? I don't have the car atm so why so much interest in the colour?
  14. I stand corrected, though at the time of writing it could be sky blue pink for all I know...
  15. ian 182 do you still have this car? If not, who has it now?
  16. Hi everyone, just to let you know i'm still alive lol!!! Ian, The car is looking absolutely fantastic, the worst part of it being I literally have hundreds of people asking why I sold it lol!!! Why did I?...... Anyway, back to business, glad you got your tax, how it was sent to me i'll never know!!! And yes, the windows are standard dark windows, the only reason I know this is from when I picked her up, there was a dealer invoice for a passenger side window with part number, and the fact it said it was dark (I think). Must change my avatar lol, still have the old girl as a pic!! In closing, i
  17. Transformers! The best way to get rid of mice? (Long story!)
  18. Right, is the power loss intermittent? Does it only occur at a certain speed or throttle opening? Is the power loss noticable through the whole rev range? Have you noticed any difference in fuel consumption? Have you noticed any difference in operating temperature? I could probably give a few suggestions withanswers to the above.
  19. It's ok providing you've got a block of wood, and a working trolley jack!! I was unlucky on both counts (My jack failed when I lowered the car down), but otherwise figured as much (I am a fully city and guilded automotive mechanical and electrical technician after all!!)
  20. Thanks for the feedback on LUK clutches, i'm due a new one soon, so i've just saved myself some trouble lol!
  21. From my experience of building various engines, it does sounds like a very low oil pressure problem. If you can get a oil pressure gauge to it, would be a good idea. I can't say no oil pressure, because it would seize solid after about 5 minutes. Did you do the work yourself? If so, did you clean the oilways before reassembly? It would be a shame to find out that some crap has fallen down into an oilway starving the top end...
  22. Oh, have you had experience of these then?
  23. German Swedish and French http://www.gsfcarparts.com/ do a LUK clutch kit for £76.50, reasonable for a 3 piece clutch kit, but i'm sure they'd do a SACHS sporting clutch if you ask.
  24. Oh christ yeah, my baby drove just like new, and actually went in a straight line without wandering or feeling vague, bloody brilliant!!
  25. I get about 150-220 miles out of a tank, but there again, I do tend to drive it like I stole it, it's just too hard to be sensible with that much torque at your disposal!
