I have been looking at the engine and have noticed that there is a secondry electric air intake pump that helps to push more air into the air box,would anyone know if this was upgraded to push out more volume would it increase power. :! -
At the end of the day it's an MPV not a Sports car but I must admit it is fun to drive,having said that I do not know if any work has been done on the engine,I know it has had a new gearbox so maybe it is worth looking at the engine number as it is posible a car engine may have been put in. On the way home on the M1 I took it upto 120mph and there was still lots left in the old bus.

Parkers quide has the BHP ratted at 174bhp and it drive as if there is more than just 140bhp

It's funny how the thread has gone from " I was busted doing 145mph" to everyone putting their views on why it's good to do speed to how stupid it is to do speed. At the end of the day the average VR6 driver mods the engine in his/her car so it will blow away most things in it's class.I bet some of you keep to the speed limit people have used their mobile phones whilst driving or had more than the legal limit of drink then drove home,I think that most of the people who do these high speeds do not do them in everyday driving but when road conditions allow(or they think they do).I used to belong

HI all,In my thread saying hi to you all velocity boy said "sod cosmetics. spend the money under the bonnet. a sleeper sharan, that would be really cool. get sumut like a stage 4 supercharger in there. few other bits and b4 u kno it uv got 400bhp. 170mph and u can bring the wife and kids" Just as a thought what would I need to do and how much would it cost,it will do 130ish so don't realy want much more speed maybe 150 !amazed but I would love to get 0-60 lower.Money is an issue the wife makes sure of that !sad . whoops forgot to mention also it's an auto (new box a year ago) just in case

Hi ,Just thought I'd share this as it might help others. I was jet washing the car yesterday and decided to put the jest wash on the oil cooler and the amount of dirt and crap that was in it was amazing it now runs much cooler, where as before it was 110/120 oil temp it is now a steady 99.

May be worth going back and asking if they could give it you in writing as Mum,Dad or a friend is lending you the money and just want to see proof on how much it is going to be. Just a thought

My 2 petheth worth. When the roads where built and speed restrictions were in place the cars of that time were not as fast as they are now,I had a MK1 Lotus Cortina when I did a ton in that my god you knew you were going fast,nowdays a ton in a modern motor is nothing braking distances handling and tyres make for a much safer drive at high speed. I agree that 140 plus can be deemed as wreckless and a lapes in consentration could be fatal for you arnd any car near you.But if the road is empty why not have fun , at worst you can only kill yourself.You could always say you want to be a copper and

Many years ago now I was doing 134, I was racing some guy and thought he had blown his engine as he just hammered on the brakes and I shot past him only to look up at a bridge to see 2 coppers with a speed gun (if your not paying attention it's your own fault) anyway the front bumper nearly touch the motorway I braked so harshley but he still clocked me doing over a ton,as i passed the sliproad the blue lights come on and I pulled over,the worst thing was in court when they read out my statement what I had said after being corsioned(terible spella)"I was only going fast as I needed a poo" said

To be honest I do not know enough to give advice on how to avoid having it recorded. The best way is to speak to the insurance company but if they paid in full they would automaticly record it,you may be able to work something out with them.

dub_weiser I am not sure how it works with insurance if the car is written off U buy it back do it up some dick hits you and writes it off again as to weather they would pay out as normal,just letting my thoughts write themselfs :! . It might be as normal but myself if it were mine I would want to check it out first.

Why can't I change from passive to remote

I rang my local VW dealer today and asked about making my motor remote but was told this cannot be done,I have the standard alarm and int sensors hold the key over and total closure but all it activated by the key.I looked by the mirror and also by the tailgate and it looks like the recivers are there so why can't I just fit a reciver module. The only thing they said was to buy a total closure alarm and piggy back it with mine but that seem silly as I already have it all but not remote. Any advise ?! . -
If it were my car I would take the 5k and buy it back and try to do most of the work myself , as it dose look like most of the paint would come of with a good moping, I know the value would be less becouse it was a write off but unless you were going to sell it on that should'nt make a lot of difference to you. You could end up with a cleaming car with an extra 3k in your pocket.The only thing I would look into is what would happen if you had an accident be it your fault or anothers as to weather they would pay out. Just my opinion

Need help please. When I start my Sharan up the climatronic display flashes for about 5 seconds,before finding and joining this forum and becoming a Premium member I looked at other VW sites and could not make head or tail of what they were on about but to think it ment a fault has occured,can someone tell me if this is the case if so how do I find out what is faulty.(bearing in mind my oher thread about car running hot) Am I also right in thinking you can get disc's for the PC that you can plug the car into and get the cars information. Any help would be great .

Thanks for your tips,I checked the oil level today and it was oin the bottom of the dipstick so I put a litre in I am hoping that the right amount of oil should help with the cooling,time will tell as I am off out in a mo. Getting back to the thermostat and it's location,if I am standing in front of the car looking at the engine what side is it on,is it top middle or bottom of the engine ,is it in a hose or in a housing on the engine,I may be blind but I have looked and can not see where the dam thing is. I have just brought a book on E bay for a tenner inc the P&P on the vr6 engine thanks

Hi I am a newbie to this forum and only found it by typing in my questions on Google,if anyone could help it would be great. I brought a VR6 Sharan last week from Derbyshire and drove it back to Bristol,whilst doing 70-75mph it was fine when I took it upto a steady 120 the temp gauge went to 3/4 I slowed down and the temp dropped to 1/2 way, I got home and the car smelt hot but all coolent levels were fine,anyway I went to Brean today and got stuck in traffic the temp gauge went over 3/4 and the fan cut in and the oil temp read 120c,I have had a look through past messages but could only find a
