Replacing front wheel bearing.

i would av thought if the tie rod keeps rotating its knackered....plz correct me if im wrong.....front bearings can be done using a punch or right sized socket...but a press is much easier and less messy/painfull lol. -

will try and get sum pics up my first car was a oak green 16v gti, silver grey leather and slammed. Second car j reg mk2 puple/black 16v decked, ported n polished head, power boost valve 4 branch manifold full ss system, g60 breaks, carbon dash, doorcards etc....till it met its demise at a roundabout when sum lady ran the lights and t-bonned me...on my b-day last year sob sob sob Now a rallye WITH A 2.9 VR AND S/C and a host of goodied to come when i learn how to save the pennies and conserve the fuel....

hey peeps im booked into the holiday inn cnt wait, but im gutted i wont be able to do nemore to the dub. (the guy who jumped on my bonnet decided that the 1400 quote from listers was too much he instead offered to buy me a carbon bonnet £600 but dam it they out off stock i pray i get it before the show it will set the car off a treat) i hope there is a god and hes watchin ova me lol

im getting the same problem....hard to change gear when cold especially 1 and 2....but i did notice the cylinder thats hooked to the clucth pedal squeeks like any thing and if i pump the peadal a few times it seems to work.....wot you guys reckon?

aint going to change the drive shafts yet just need to do the bearings....but i need to know if the rear bearings are pressed into the discs?........

ohhhh nice bit of info, want to replace those rear drive shafts for new ones just for the sake of it. if you could find out about the bearings wt would be much appriciated if it is a case of just pressin in new bearings i can do that my self.

sweet as....vw stealers quoted me 350 for the bearings and four wheel laser alignment same as the r32.....he tried to say that it is an absolute must.....grand total 900 plus WTF!!! is the world cumin to....i wana try do the change my self so gonna look into making an hydraulic press at home using a bottle jack....then book in for alingment at stealth who will be cheaper then the stealers

Hi guys has ne one ever had to change these???? do the bearings get pressed into the discs or in the rear trailling arm....i would think the mk2 was similar to the mk3 syncro.........? any help would me much appriciated went to see a r32 today i reck a year worth of saving and staying wiv the old will help hahaha !lol !lol

think to much has been said for him to come back and pit people minds at rest, i mean would you go back onto a fourm after all this slating?....kinda locked in a battle my self some twat at work decided to jump on my bonnet smash my headlights...thought thats all it was but the clips that hold my bonnet felt (the long metal one fell onto the prop doughnut and knackered the takeoff drive and prop, leaking hypoid caugh light ans wrecked the rear engine mount....got the estimates to put right over 2k. now iv been to the cops and still waiting to hear from them, cnt do any thing at work as i have
