  2. I feel so guilty :$ In my defence only 7K of the miles are mine. It was somebody else who let the rot set in. My mind is so at peace now. TG I'll keep the bits as show exhibits (h)
  3. Hi, There's always an on-going debate as to when to have the timing chains/tensioners changed. I have a piece to a difinative answer. . . . < 156K miles . . . and here's the proof. The running plate from one of my tensioners. Not sure which one *-) , Kilokilla found it at the very top, practically in with the cams! I guess I'll have more pictures after he has finished and I've got all the bits (of bits) back. TG P.s. It wasn't that noisey. I can only imagine it had been run through the bucket of marbles stage!
  4. Yea, I've found my tickets: on my door mat under a pile of free newspapers and junk mail. I really must be less of a slob. TG
  5. Got my passes today, cheers Claire. But am still waiting on the actual event tickets :-(. When did you guys order yours? My money went on the 24th May. TG.
  6. As with all cars alot depends on age and history. Take a look at this thread from just last week! http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?121448 TG
  7. 156k miles on a J. And flew through it's MOT today without even an advisory :-) Chains to be done SOON.
  8. I don't believe in the grassy knoll, because it doesn't match the evidence. However this is mind blowing. Watch and believe. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8260059923762628848 TG
  9. Ian, Does it have lots of cooling hoses going into it and two or three sensor connections? That's your thermostat housing. Just had to change mine as one of the hose connections sheard off. Quite common apparantly for them to fail. You are looking at around £50 to replace it entirely ( it comes in three pieces ) or £5 if it's just the seals/rings that have gone. TG.
  10. Hi Claire, Yep, I will be there as stated. I've booked camping and my gate tickets where processed today :-) TG P.s. What's the deal if us Southeners are hit with emergency drought orders banning car washing?
  11. Hi Ian, Try: http://www.gpcvwaudi.com/ Upto 33% cheaper then VW. £20 of badges made my 14yo look years younger. They may not be listed but I'm sure I've seen them there. TG
  12. Hey Claire, what do the asterix's mean? Can I have one? TG.
  13. For a laugh I once got a quote from Vindis, Cambridge: £1100 TG
  14. Your problem is your cap. The system is supposed to be pressurised otherwise the water can simmer or even boil! The whirring noise is the Aux water pump on overrun, it's quite normal. It helps to cool the head once the main pump stops. TG
  15. O.K. then, Claire please put me down for both days. What's to do on the campsite after the show closes and before sleep time? TG
  16. Hi, I was going to suggest Stapletons, honest. I've seen the advert in their garage on Orchard Road, I spend a lot of time there :-(, but didn't know the quality of the service provided. TG P.s. The employees are Dub Heads. One of the managers (Nick) has 4 or so!
  17. Worked for me too Passed first time , after £150 !sad of silencer a few weeks ago anyway TG
  18. That Mk2 Golf is the current 'C-CAR'. The Dedicated Ring Toy for a syndicate of serious Ringers. Whoever was driving would have had a lot, a lot, of practice. TG
  19. I'm afraid it can't be anything else :-( I've had mine replaced with some copper piping for nearly a year. Works fine except for the no heating. Luckily I don't have to use the VR6 if it's too cold outside. TG P.s. when it was first patched up the join was near the actual matrix inlets which caused a restriction in one of the hoses leading to cooling problems.
  20. May 10th is the day for you then Steve. It's the only midweek, all day, opening until September. The rest of the time it just weekends and evenings. The long weekend at the end of May is to be avoided as it's a German holiday weekend. There is a nice calender here: http://julesperry.com/ring-2006.htm TG
  21. Ahh, I knew there was a reason I didn't book for Easter. You must all be a bit gutted. Even after 16 laps we were sad to have to leave and would have been up for more, which is more than can be said for the A4! TG
  22. I am surprised you went all that way and only did 4 laps each! A mate and I flew out for the day last september and managed 16 laps between us before it was time to come home. Great day, even with the TDi A4 tug boat we hired TG P.s. Any idea of your lap times?
