  1. I've driven almost every Vaux going when one summer my job was to move/park cars at a dealership, one thing i will say is the build quality isn't as bad as people think, not up to VW standards but miles above ford. The engines are reliable only the t/x box on the 4x4s is a bit dodgy but looked well they're ok. One problem i did notice on the older cavs was a very warn feeling on all the controls, loose gear changes, slack steering etc. Given the choice i'd still go for a VR, not because the Cav is bad but i just prefer the VR. If you're happy with a cav go for it it's your money
  2. LMAO!!!! nice pics !ill I'm not kidding a sudden chunder urge came over me, could be the tuna sandwich i had earlier, i'm still not feeling too clever
  3. LOL I'm glad it's not just me that thinks that most of the stuff that makes the news is utter shite. I also feel that everything is dumbed down now, i suppose that's what you get after whole generation of people listen to tree hugging hippies and scaremongers instead of engineers and scientists!! Contrary to what knitted jumper wearing vegetarians say we aren't going to run out of oil in the next 20-30 years, nuclear power is clean and safe and shooting/fishing is a perfectly normal thing to want to do... !amazed
  4. Don't forget local goverment too!!!
  5. I've left a note in my window now It reads "F.A.O. Parking nazi P73, before writing another ticket please looka bit harder and find my permit above" OMG i can't believe they ticket police cars, it must be so tempting to put riot gear on and run at them.
  6. I went out this afternoon to take some pics of my car with my new camera yay I took some nice pics of the back then went to the front to carry on with my snapping and i found a fixed penalty notice The date on it was the 23rd at 7:49pm. It said that i was in contravention of parking code 15, parking in a residents' parking space without clearly displaying a valid residents' parking permit. I've been a resident here since July last year and i've had my permit displayed clearly in the top right of my windscreen in all that time. This meant that i've spent a fair part of the afternoon stood aro
  7. If it's a means to an end then fair play to you mate. If i didn't have my VR i'd buy a lada if for some reason it meant that i could get a VR (i no idea how it would work but you get the idea)
  8. I'm the only Dub owner in my family, everyone else has either vauxhalls or a renault. VR6Rich and i will confirm that Passat corners pretty well !dodge
  9. The further south the better although i accept that if there are lots of people around the Bristol area they aren't going to want to travel down past Taunton. I think we sould get a photocopy of a map and a list of south west members, then draw on circles with the centre of each being the location of each member, then in the most central area where they all intersect we should look for a meeting place
  10. yeah no probs mate, i actually saw a VR almost outside my brother's house you don't live in the Oldfield park area do you? If i'm up again i'll let you know
  11. I feel for you mate, that place is a nightmare if you want to drive your car anywhere. I went there to pick my bro up from uni after the RR day in Dec, i'm usually a calm driver but going at 2-3mph for ages through the city centre with your clutch foot aching isn't fun at all :@
  12. fag packet calculation = 8515 l/min (8.515 m^3/min) making some really crude assumptions assuming stoichiometric = 14.7:1 rpm = 6500 swept vol = 2.8 litres 2.8x (14.7/15.7) = 2.62 litres/2 revs (coz it's 4 stroke only 3 cylinders intake per rev) 2.62/2 = 1.31 l/rev 1.31x6500 = 8515 litres (about 300 cfm) I haven't been able to find exact figures but that doesn't sound unreasonable. If that's the case then the BMC CDA has a intake diameter of 80mm. The speed 8515 litres per minute of air would need to go (assuming incompressible) through that intake oriface would be 1686 m/s or 3771 mph, that's
  13. Yeah definately, there are a few here that could benefit from this for sure I just thought i'd set the record straight as when tescos fuel had been mentioned before on other forums i visit some people seem to think it's a miracle power boosting agent for all cars, e.g. thinking it has a higher calorific value or more volatile. Most people on here seem to be more level headed and have the intelligenge to understand the concept It's good that some companies are finally opening their eyes and realise that there is a market for performance fuels here what with certain jap imports only running on
  14. Unless you're running a tuned high compression or forced induction engine there isn't really much point going for higher RON fuel. A higher RON just means that the fuel is more resistant to spontaneous autoignition (pinking/knocking/pre-ignition) due to pressure/heat. Modern ECUs can happily compensate and cope with lower RON fuels without pinking, you'll notice a difference between 95 and 97 or 98 purely because the engine can run more 'aggressively' with respect to how much it compresses the fuel before ignition. Once you get much above 97/98 you're not going to notice much if any improveme

    places to go

I reckon Devon is your best bet, but i would say that because i'm biased but for you non-believers positive proof !lol There are loads of places to choose for accomodation, country houses, cottages, farm b&bs or even caravans if you're that way inclined
  16. lol that is quite dire, but all manufacturers make ugly, slow, god awful heaps at some point, even VW! I still like the VXR
  17. I like the VXR the only thing that could be said against it was it is bonkers, good enough reason to but it in my books Also i've had experience of fords and vauxhalls, ford's interiors always feel like they came from a kinder egg.
  18. Cool, that brings back memories, good job you don't happen to have any footage of a certain red car do you? i got a video on my phone but it was pants
  19. It is certainly looking great now one little thing though, when lots of people have been quotes have been quoted there doesn't seem to be any seperation of the different quotes so it's difficult to see who actually posted what, if that makes sense, a good example is page 12 of the ultimate tune/C2 motorsport thread in the suppliers forum.
  20. I love my Supersprint, they guys who fitted it said there were some small issues but once it's on the sound is beautiful at the RR day a few people commented on the sound of my exhaust I got mine for
  21. Have a look on the RR day results, many people with OBD2 cars were kicking out near or just over to 200bhp with an air filter and/or exhaust. Add a 6 branch mani and a de-cat and there's a good chance you'll break the 200bhp mark, just remember engines vary a lot, aparrently identical engines can have different outputs.
  22. Not wanting to be picky but my figures were 195.7bhp and 187.9lb ft, Vince must have forgot to put in the decimal places on the form :P It was a great day seeing everyone for the first time and so many great cars Oh and thanks to everyone who organised the day
  23. sorry if you've head this before or it's a repost but it had me in stitches click here <--- audio clip "i got a damn 2 by 4 in my back seat" wahahahaha
  24. i'm still going up on the saturday, what time will you be getting to J14 vdubgirl?
  25. I've always wondered is the Bentley manual in metric or ye olde inches, feet, lbs and all that rubbish? It's a German car so i would have thought that it was in metric but i wouln't put it past the yanks to do it all in imperial.
