  2. hi all, does anyone have any experiance of replacing the alternater? i saw in the bentley manual you are supposed to use a 'special vw' tool....do you have to or not, should i just take it to my mechanic? cheers
  3. engine updates just a few pics at e38 this year, looking a bit 'cleaner' and now (poor quality phone pics ;( ) but a bit more bling and new filter....mmmmm more bing to come?.....oh yes
  4. the relays are underneath the coolant reservoir, just lift the clear clipped lid on the rectangular boxy thing under the reservoir...very technical i know...but its sunday morning
  5. i had a magnex on my old vr, they do seem to be very poppy. although it is odd that it pops while changing up gears(unless you are changing gears really slowly ) as the popping is excess fuel that combusts in the exhaust when the car engine is slowing and doesn't need as much fuel , it shouldn't have excess fuel if you are accelerating i don't think.....although i may be wrong
  6. no i didn't fella, adamstockman@hotmail.com adam
  7. hi all, ive just bought a neuspeed 160 thermostat, now i need to know where to put it and how to fit it? also will i need to put new 'o' ring in aswell? cheers adam

  9. that will be knightmare when it rains, the mesh sits right over the top of the manifold turning your spark plug wells into water wells.....not good:( and if it isn't mesh then it will turn your bonnet into big puddle!
  10. ive not had any dealings with gwent, but i have heardsome rather unfavourable comments about them, i bought some lifters from germany and they sent me 2 right hand side ones that confused me for a while. when you get the right ones the fitment will be clear when you offer them up to car, make sure you don't lose the little 'u' clips
  11. hi all, as title says really. can you clean the inside of the manifold when its off the car? mine is full of buffing debris. what's the best thing to use and the best method? cheers
  12. mmm....not good, but its best not to fart around trying to get them to fit, just have to get them to send you the right ones or flog yours on ebay (may fit earlier models) and buy a new set
  13. you can run the car indefinately with the matrix bypassed as it only controls the (surprisingly ) the heater, just make sure the connection is good
  14. as PHM said, if they is fooked you will defiately be able to hear them when you open the bonnet, sounds like a very noisy sewing machine. but if your engine is looked after with regular oil changes with a quality oil they should last way past 100k
  15. grille i would go for 'jom' they have a metal bottom part and are proberbly cheaper than bonrath
  16. no need to drill any holes, when you hold them in position you will see which ones to remove.its the bolt above the grounding lead and the corresponding one on the other side. see photo
  17. very nice, i thought LM's only went down to 18's? they lok more like 17's
  18. nice shiney bits, just need to detail the rest now
