  1. Ignore that last one. Just read you're other post! Was thinking of getting mine cleaned / checked, but when I couldn't get them out, I thought sod it, I'll just leave them. Rich
  2. I had the same prob, Ended up just leaving them cos I was scared of busting them. Are you getting them cleaned or replacing them?
  3. Silverline has sent me his Green kit (picking it up from Post Office tomorrow), but would be interested to know if it's not too much of a problem. Rich
  4. This one looks like it's been drilled, cos the hole isn't flat. , and there's shreds of metal still stuck to the edge of the hole inside. Just looks like someones taken a 12mm drill bit to it!
  5. Thanks Big 6. I think it's going in the bin!! It's not much use with a big hole in the back of it anyway.
  6. Warren, I've got the same leaky breather pipe (dripping onto the exhaust manifold), except mines OBD1. Priced it up with VW and they said the same (ie whole inlet pipe). Didn't want to believe that I had to buy it all, so looked for part numbers on the pipe and switch-type-thingy. Came up trumps, both bits cost me around £20. Check this thread at page 3/4. http://www.vr6oc.com/forum_viewtopic.php?2.40042.20 Like I said mines OBD1, but worth a try if you can find the part numbers. They might even be the same. Rich
  7. No probs Phil, I got it off a thread on here a few weeks back. Yeah forgot about those bolts acf. Just got some in. Not worth the risk as you say. Rich
  8. Hi silverline. Thanks, that'd be great. You sure you don't want something for it? Obviously I'll send you a cheque for the postage. I'll PM you my address. Cheers.
  9. Amazing detailed procedure here. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1264409 Rich
  10. Cheers for the clip Warren. Feckin superb! Sounds awesome. Rich
  11. Just pulled it to bits. The filter material is red. No markings anywhere. Must be some sort of univeral fit filter. Think I'll get something new for when it goes back on the car (more expense!). Would need to block that hole up anyway if I put it back on.
  12. I think someone told me that the CAT emissions for the MOT only apply to cars registered after 93 (ie 92/93 VR's can get away without one). Does anyone know if this is correct?
  13. Cheers Warren. I'm getting one of the Milltek systems off the Group Buy. They're not supposed to be too loud. Might see if I can borrow a sound meter when I get it on.
  14. Loud or just a different tone? If I remove mine, I don't want to be blowing the dB limit on the track.
  15. As title. Was fitted when I bought the car. The bloke said it was 'an expensive air filter' :? No marking as far as I can see, but it looks like some muppets drilled a hole in the back of it. Rich [ Edited ]
  16. And if they clock it, tell them you couldn't find your old one, so you had it re-MOT'd. Oh and don't take your old certificate when you take it to be MOT'd cos they'll write the old number on the new certificate.
  17. Kin'ell, that's some stretch on the rears. They 928 wheels? It's gonna looked proper mint with them on. Can't wait to see them on the car.
  18. I'd like to see that report! And you thought you were having a bad day Stu!!
  19. Not sure if there's any recommended limits. I guess you've got to expect high oil temps at that speed. I would consider an additional cooler if you're giving it some on a regular basis. When I get mine on the track (eventually) I'll have to keep an eye on mine!
  20. As far as I know, all VRs had a water cooled oil cooler. It's a square block with two water pipes and a large central bolt at the front of the engine, next to the oil filter. Not sure if you can get a retro-fit air cooled (radiator type) oil cooler.
  21. Sorry mate, not sure exactly how it works. Had a quick look in the Bentley. It says you can reset the TCM (Transmission Control Module) back to basic settings on the VAG1551 or by doing the following. Turn ignition on but don't start engine. Press accelerator pedal to floor (make sure carpets don't stop it) for minimum of 5 seconds. Release accelerator pedal and switch off ignition. Probably worth a try. I had a similar prob in my Corrado VR6 Auto. It also used to change gear several times whilst going round roundabouts at speed. Never got to the bottom of it before it went back to the dea
  22. About £16+vat If it saves me breaking any more piston rings, it's gonna be worthwhile!
  23. Cheers peeps. Ordered one from my local dealer on Sat. Picked it up today. The bloke behind the counter said 'We're not supposed to sell tools to the public'. I just said 'Oh' and he handed it over! Here's a pic for reference. Part No 3278. Check out that angle
