  1. Ecu needs to be matched to the immobiliser/transponder/ignition key else it won't start, so ideally you need all the bits from the same donor car. If you're REALLY lucky, (like me) the donor car's ignition key will be the same cut as the car you're OBD IIing.. lol! We used a 95 Passat for the bits and my car is an old '91 mk2, the keys were the same bloody cut, couldn't believe it.

    Mk2 Conversion

    Claire, I know you and Ian know one end of a spanner to the other, so it's a job you'll be able to tackle. I was lucky enough to get help from some guys who've done 'one or two' VR swaps over the years, as long as you get a decent donor car (we used a passat), a mk3 subframe, most of the bits are easy to find. I would deffo recommend changing the horrible 02A cable change shifter/cables to mk4 stuff, we've used R32 lever /cables and a 5 spd 02J shift tower in the 'box, the change is very precise and direct.   9. Been to Stealth this morning for a power test, very pleased with results 209bhp at 6150 and 188 torques @ 5243!     Met up with my olds mate Tub last night at a services on the M6 to drop off a tape with the footage on from Sunday. (which was a laugh in itself after a really funny conversation about gf Claire's R32 with a *very comical* DHL lorry driver from Leeds!) Tub's put up a couple of vids so far filmed early in the afternoon on Sunday. Cheers dude!   14. Here's a short vid from Donington on Sunday, camera car is a mate's 800kg 180bhp 16v mk1, following me then me following him etc. Very pleased with how the mk2 goes!
  15. Nah, just a standard 2.8 head and block from a Passat barge (OBD II) Late metal h/g, new tappets and DR racing 268s..

  17. Some progress pics. Since Saturday we've got a hell of a lot done, just need to fix why the clutch pedal keeps jamming on the floor, build a bracket for my hacked up centre console to house a switch panel, tidy up some more wiring get it MOT'd,taxed and insured and she's done !
