  1. Nigel, good to meet you , we followed you back to bloody Bolougne!!!! Our ferry was errrmmm Calais.
  2. Went to Stealth racing at the weekend for dyno shoot out organised by our local vw club Rubbadubz.co.uk 0BD II 2.8 DRC 268s Carbonio CAI eBay 6 branch mk4 HG C2 UK NA software Very pleased with results 216.9bhp @ 6189rpm (118mph in 4th gear) 192.2 lb/ft @ 5297rpm Earnt a trophy for highest NA power of the day. Big thanks to C2 motorsports UK for writing some cracking software for the VR6. You tube vid of power run - Power Torque Summary. Note how the mid-range torque ramps up, it's made the car a lot more responsive on the road, which is what you need...
  3. If there's spaces put me down too please. mk2 vr6
  4. Mine had that 525 02 sensor code, I replaced the 02 sensor, still the same - decided to strip the loom apart and found some bad soldered joints onto the multi plug on the engine loom. After I do a track day, the car always runs rough on the way home, oil getting on the MAF - I just clean it with Isowhatsitcalled alcohol and it's sorted.
  5. Have a look at this mk3 http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=153263
  6. I've got a lambda probe fault 00525 low voltage, intermittent MAF fault also, suppose I should get those sorted really...
  7. Ford had similar problem with their zetec engines when they were first introduced, they eventually had a modified PRV in the head to stop them doing it, and they recommended using 5w30 also.
  8. Mine cuts out/misfires/stalls if you boot it when cold, as said much earlier in the thread, it's excess oil pressure holding open the lifters - if you boot it so it stalls it sounds like low or no! compression when cranking, running on 4-5 or less when restarted. You get a pop/backfire because the valves are open when they shouldn't be I just warm it up before booting it, like you should...
  9. Anyone localish to Worcester with full version of VAG-COM that could do a TB alignment for me?
  10. Any chance you were heading towards J6 M5 along the A449 about 8:15-8:30 ish one morning in the last couple of weeks? Towing the mk3 on trailer with a 4x4? I was on my way to work .
  11. You'll have to let me know when it's back up and running - good luck with it.
  12. Any further with solving this? Car sounds interesting, wouldn't mind having a nose some time - I'm nr Worcester too.
  13. Happy with my DR 268s, been running the VR in my mk2 a year now, still makes me smile!
  14. Just to add, if you've been ripping out immobilisers, any chance you've not reconnected a loop of wiring that was originally cut into for the immobiliser?
  15. Answered the same thread on http://mk2vr6.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2602
  16. I drive my gf's mk4 R32 quite a lot, yes it's quick but tbh, it's no quicker in a straight line than my mk2 with a 2.8 OBD II VR .... R32 has Schrick 264 cams, sports cats etc etc 1/4 mile times are low 14s for both cars. It's a cracking car but just too heavy. Saying that, it is amazing in the wet, so much grip.... Showing a clean but very damp pair of heels to a GT3, Ferrari and an Evo @ Spa...

Craggsy, Claire had serious clutch slip, there was smoke pouring out of the bell housing!! Thats what you get for having 4wd and launching at 5000 revs, side stepping the clutch, she said "It's usually alright" LOL! She ran a 14.6 in the morning.

Eat this, was your car black? with black highline wheels and half the front missing? Saw that car doing similar times to you have posted above - apologies if not you. I ran my mk2 VR today, not usually into 1/4 mile . Best run was 14.3 @ 96 mph with a 2.1 60ft. Worst run was a 17.WTF! when the front engine mount stud snapped and engine has put some new power bulges in teh bonnet! DOH! Vid of one of my early runs
  19. Carbonio CAI - top bit of kit imo... http://carbonio.com/vw/mk3.php
