  1. Ok, currently building a mk2 VR6 using an OBD2 2.8 Mods include Dougherty racing 268° cams, Raceland tubular manifold, Unorthodox alloy flywheel,Carbonio CAI. De-cat and a Jetex 2.5" system I'll no doubt go and have it power tested at Stealth when it's running. Old 2 litre valver it's got to beat put out 184bhp/145 lb/ft @ Stealth So, any educated guesses what the VR will kick out??
  2. We did the guides/tensioners/chains on mine at the weekend, when the engine was in the Passat donor it was very quiet. However, the upper guide had a mounting point broken (eeek!!) and was worn through to the rivets. Pleased I didn't chance it and fit it as it was!
  3. Uprated engine mounts, heat wrapped manifold and heat reflective tape on any hoses that are close?
  4. I use Motul RBF600 on my track car. Cheap as chips and no probs since using it.
  5. Any got any pics of the stainless raceland manifold fitted? Ordered one for my mk2 VR6 conversion..
  6. If anyone has or sees one for sale, let me know.
  7. I picked up a set of their 268s with very little use and a set of new tappets for £250 - looking forward to getting them in the mk2 which is having an OBD2 2.8 fitted with carbonio CAI, 3.68 FD with Peloquin diff and a few other bits and bobs.
  8. Anyone know who sells the carbon cover that's fitted in place of the plastic cover with VR6 DOHC?
  9. It's an M8 bolt btw - I replaced mine at the weekend.
  10. Looking for some plots on Stealth rollers from OBD2 cars, please post up the plots and list of mods if any. Thanks,
  11. Thanks Steve,I've not had much to do with the VR lump so expect a few questions along the way. Ordered a Carbonio CAI from APR in the States at the weekend, it arrived Weds Offered it up to the car to see how it fits.
  12. Thanks for that - I did wonder why they didn't work.
  13. Isn't she beautiful??? Needed a bit of a clean methinks. I'm going to use the Barge whilst sourcing bits for the conversion, insured it for £32 the month Steam cleaned the engine bay at lunch time, looks a bit better. But now the aux belt tensioner is noisy!! (
  14. After 4 yrs of valver power in my mk2 Golf, I've decided to fit a VR6. Bought a '96 Passat VR6 estate (OBD2) for £500 at the weekend, scored a Corrado rad + fans off eBay and just need to source a few other bits and bobs for the swap. Plan is to find a mk3 16v box to use a 3.6 FD instead of the VRs looooong 3.3 which is pretty useless for track work, will get a Peloquin diff if funds allow.
  15. Thanks again to Claire for organising a great day down at Stealth, - nice to have vibratechnics there showing an interest in engine movement ( or not!) and for putting the food on. My 2lt 16v has done a far few miles on Stealths rollers, someone mentioned it should drive itself on there yesterday 184bhp from my old bus yesterday. As Claire said, the mk2s are really good track cars but very compromised for road use, no climate control and nice leather seats in our cars..
