  5. I had my front wheel out at the weekend and saw the scuff marks on the inner arch liner. Better there than the arch itself.
  6. If I was to replace every rubber "thing" under the car, with poly bits, what parts would I need and what are ALL the names they go by? Anyone really know their bushes and bushings? I'm looking for the cause of a creak just to the right of centre in the steering action. With the foot on the brake pedal I can feel it through the pedal. Control arm bushes? Track road end? Tie rods? Not very good with all these bits!
  7. Sunbeam Tiger: 5+ litre V8 goodness !amazed Cobra - Small and less than a tonne. 427 ci (7+ litres) of more goodness. We have a winner.
  8. .....Which is why I have a Nak unit. Plus, they are black, which looks good in the golf. And they look old, so less likely to get nicked. There are some good deals to be had on them on the 'bay if you look hard!
  9. The advertising banner - aghghghghh ! - It causes the whole page to pause and then shift down just as you click the link you want, only to find that the link you clicked was the one above the one you actually wanted!
  10. You might want to head down to the doctors, eat this.
  11. Het Richie, seen any more vwms vsr's kicking around? I'll take the first one you find out the back in the parts department. Only if it fits OBD 2!
  12. Don't rule out 16s either. Good compromise, and can accomodate the larger 312mm brakes still, plus cheaper wheels and tyres. I have 17s , obviously.
  13. I have recently been trying to get a price on some vf mounts - front back and tranny - from places in the US as I have friends coming from the US to visit me in Sydney. I saw the best prices on c3cars.com - front 150 (standard price), rear - 150 (standard price) tranny 75 - (25 US cheaper than everywhere else). So I emailed the link they provided - they are just a shop window for loads of suppliers. I asked them for a package price on all 3. Eurosport Accesories.com email me back, telling me all about side mounts, rear mounts and 100 USD transmission mounts. So the wrong mounts are called up,
  14. oh, and ignore 6x9's too. woofers should be ROUND.

  18. IMHO....Only buy hub-centric spacers - there are threads with H&R spacers all over this part of the forum. Dont go too far out and risk the fo'sho LA gangster skateboard wheel look - and use longer bolts specially made for the job. The front wheels should be further out that the rears to aid steering too - They are on the standard set up. Spacers are useful for aftermarket wheels to clear calipers. I found I even had to increase the spacers 3mm to 5mm when I put new pads in!
  19. Eat this, you are probably right - I havent checked US UK exchange rate in ages because I am in Oz. Most of the US online guys sell them motor mounts for anything up to 180, normally 150 US, and the tranny mount standard price is 100 US - I only saw it once for 75. So normal price all up 400 US, Plus postage - in the order of 50 US I reckon......it must be getting close....
  20. Exactly the same symtom as mine. But....Now I cant send a PM - button is missing, and when I post a reply I cant go back to the forum or my reply. Black, black, its all Black! !sad
  21. I'll put my vote in for H&R coilovers. I have the same wheels as Jay (ET 35), with the same drop, if not more, and the fronts are on 5mm spacers to clear the calipers. I have only once had an issue with rubbage when entering a driveway with a deep gutter whilst turning hard, and doing it all too fast - I'd just had it all raised 10mm and thought I would get away with it.
  22. My 312's are still sitting in a box in the garage. I would like to separate the carriers and calipers to clean them up and spray them, but is it impossible to separate these two items whilst the brakes are off the car? What size is the required allen key for starters? - they're off an audi s3. Cheers Matt
