  1. got them on over the weekend, I love em! Admittedly the car REALLY needs to be lowered, but other than that I reckon they look pretty good - and thanks to Craggsy for his advice on the hub adapters etc. I got the H&R ones in the end and they seem excellent.
  2. well that's some pretty varied advice, I reckon I'm going to try the Avons and see how I get on, I'll keep you posted if I think they're crap! Hopefully being fitted on saturday with any luck
  3. yep, that's fitted and balanced, plus that price includes the garage fitting my hub adapters and my new wheels at the same time - I saw those Toyos on ebay too but figured it would be similar price by the time I'd paid for fitting etc. I've also heard that Yokohamas are quite soft. I guess the Avons it is!
  4. that's pretty good, the 2 sets I'm getting prices for are £279 for the Avons and £300 for the yokies but they're 205/40/17
  5. I've got the choice between these 2 makes of tyres to be fitted to my wheels (price is approx the same). Does anyone have experience of both to let me know which is the best tyre? Or are there any other makes of tyre that stand out for anyone that aren't going to cost the earth? any help appreciated!
  6. I saw this car on pistonheads when I was looking for one - at £4900 it was way too expensive, but the price now is ok - maybe come down to £2995 and you'd sell it I reckon. Autotrader do a 'telesafe' thing now which is free - basically any callers have to phone an encrypted number to get through to you and Autotrader automatically filters out any known canvassers/scammers - those companies that say they can sell your car for £70 etc. The call you get is from a genuine buyer. Also if you sell the car then a recorded message tells anyone that it's sold so you don't have to waste time telling
  7. how do the wheels look with those widths though - I don't want mine sticking out from the car too much...i had originally planned to go for 20mm?
  8. Just picked up some Porsche cup 1 alloys (from an Audi RS2) and now need some adaptors so they can go onto my MK3 - does anyone know of anywhere I can pick up a set that aren't too expensive? The best I've had so far is a set of H&R ones for £220 including VAT bolts and delivery (from Performance Solutions), the other few places I've tried don't have any in stock (Gwent, Dubmeister). Any help appreciated!
  9. well I did like the MK2 but to be honest I couldn't resist another MK3 - I had a standard black one a few years ago and it's the car I've owned for the longest (4 years) so I thought I'd go back to the tried and tested formula!
  10. mileage is currently 90,400 so not too bad - as you say, the best colour for a MK3 I reckon! It was probably inevitable that I go back to a VR in the end. The MK2 I had was lovely but because of the condition of it I was scared to leave it anywhere and it ended up sitting in the garage more than I drove it! No chance of that with this one though! Yours looks sweet btw
  11. thanks guys - as you say it was probably inevitable! Got it for £2700 in the end - not too bad. Needs a couple of bits doing to it but overall pretty good nick and full VW service history too. Was always the colour I wanted too. Anyway, I need a VR6OC sticker now - anyone know how I can pick one up??
  12. Ok guys, I hold my hands up and apologise...after selling my MK2 VR6 (that shiny red one with cream leather) a while ago and buying a standard MK2 16v to potter about in, I kind of figured that as I didn't have a VR any more there wasn't too much point in posting stuff on the site so for that reason I've been pretty quiet for a while (ok, completely silent then), and for that I apologise - it seems that I'm a 'fair weather' site visitor!. However, I couldn't keep away any more and have seen the light again and bought myself another VR6, and bloody excellent it is too! Today i picked up a P re
  13. hm, bit greek to me I'm afraid but I've emailed it to you and you can have a go!
  14. ah, I guess it didn't work then - don't think the file type is allowed...
  15. hopefully you'll be able to view the video of the merlin engined rover but not sure if it'll work...
  16. yep, i've got a video of it starting up - the sound is something else. they were firing it up every hour. pretty awesome machine, completely mad!
  17. well those pics kind of put mine to shame, I was only using my camera phone though!! A ride on that Bowler Wildcat was pretty wicked. That was my first time of going but I'll definitely be going back next year I reckon
  18. some more pics - I can only download a few at a time I think so I'll try these ones...
  19. from memory I think that's the Britsh built Caparo T1 - basically an F1 car for the road!
  20. ok, how about now? I can view them all but not sure if it's just because it's my PC? I'll try putting a few more on too and see if that works...can someone let me know if I'm just being a complete muppet?!
  21. http://photos.yahoo.com/louandtoby@btinternet.com Ok, hopefully this'll work for more pics...
  22. this is a bit of a test to see if the pics I have can be uploaded - hopefully more to follow!
