  1. You'll probably just have to have the rear arches rolled.
  2. They're taking orders now. We'll probably see the first ones on the road in Jan 2006.
  3. You would need to cut out the bulkead central section and weld a RHD one in its place, then swap the steering rack, pedal box, brake servo/master cylinder, ABS Pump, all brake lines, most of the wiring behind the dash, plus the dash itself. If you had access to a complete VR6 donor car it's definitely do-able, but a LOT of work and I've never heard of anyone doing it before. It might actually be easier to do it the other way round and transfer the Syncro 4WD system & 2.9 engine into a RHD VR. I know this has been done (There's a couple of 4wd Ventos & cabrios out there)
  4. As soon as the opportunity arises to leave this infernal Nanny state, I'm gone.
  5. The Police State has officially arrived. This is Communism, plain and simple. Makes me wonder who we've really got in charge... If used to detect the whereabouts of stolen cars, vehicles used in serious crimes and vehicles owned by people linked with terrorism, this blatantly "Big Brother" system would still be unworthy of support from the public. But we all know this is not what the system will be used for anyway. It will be used for only four purposes as far as I can see: 1) Revenue from blanket, zero-tolerance speed limit enforcement. 2) Revenue from additional minor fixed-penalty offen
  6. So cabrio ones might work out cheaper. Designa Dubs have a machine shop next door that can do the required mods to the baseplates and they're very reasonably priced.
  7. Cabrio doors have no pillars, so the leading edge of the mirror baseplates have a 2-3mm return lip on them to "tidy up" the appearance when the door is open. This return lip needs to be ground off in order to fit cabrio mirrors to a Mk3 hatchback model. Once that is done, one more hole has to be drilled in the mounting face on the door (easy) and the mirror will bolt straight on. The electrical connector is exactly the same. The Mk3.5 cabrio mirrors give better visibility than the Mk3 ones and look way nicer. A very worthwhile mod if you can find some.
  8. Vibrations felt through the brake pedal are usually the ABS system kicking in. Your ABS may be malfunctioning. Sounds like it's a safety critical matter so get it checked out as soon as possible. One thing you could try is removing the fuse for the ABS system and see if the problem remains.
  9. By the way, chrisgbrindley, because your VR was registered before 1/8/92, you can fit a de-cat pipe and still pass MOTs!!!
  10. Well the 3.6L VR6 engine is available now, but only in the Passat, and only for the US. Indications are that it would fit the Golf Mk5 chassis, so we may see an R36 in a few years. The 3.2 with forced induction would be a better option though.
  11. You're showing your age?!? My first car was a 1978 Vauxhall Chevette!! LOL Bought in 1990, age 18.
  12. To retain the top speed, you can get an overdrive 6th gear fitted to your gearbox. Stealth Racing do this conversion.
  13. I've got a Raceland tubular exhaust manifold (same as the one on eBay). In fact, I've just been out fitting it (or trying to). The build quality of the manifold looks good and yes, you can keep the stock heatshield - there are mountings for it on the Raceland manifold in the correct place. The bolts required to actually secure the heatshield to the manifold are not included with the kit, though, so you will need to buy these separately from your friendly local bolt shop. To get the maximum power increase from a tubular manifold, it is recommended that you insulate it with special racing hea
  14. That could be half of an Enzo front tyre. Judging by the amount of dirt on it I'd say he probably left the road. Possibly got up close and personal with a tree. Cars as quick as the Enzo should be fitted with an aircraft-style ejector seat just in case something goes wrong....
  15. Thet looks very similar to a kit that's been available for the Mk4 for a while. Is the low-beam lamp in the middle on this kit (rather than on the end) ?
  16. The Mk5 GTi is only available with FWD. The Mk5 R32 is only 4WD. With the Mk5 2.0FSi and TDi, you can choose FWD or 4WD.
  17. I swapped a 1.8 (4 bar) grille for a Mattig 3 bar badgeless one on my cabrio and it was a straight swap. May be one of your locating lugs is bent or broken? is the metal section firmly located on the plastic "frame" of the grille?
  18. Looks like he only got your bumper and didn't touch the panelwork. Could have been worse I guess. Is your insurance fully com?
  19. Does anyone know if you can still get the Votex front splitters from anywhere? Want one.
