Guest snyper
Hi All.I have just ordered a BMC panel filter, should i leave the intake pipe (from the airbox to the inner wing) in place or remove it ??Cheers
mina 0
Leave it in if you're keeping the panel arrangement otherwise you won't get any cool air into the engine.
Geastb 0
Quick question - is it worth drilling the air box (the wing side) or does this do nothing?
Eat this 2
it gives a nice induction roar but dunno about power
binliner 0
as above... it will sound like a cone filter, might not make it go faster but wont make it go slower either!

FishWick 21
I wouldn't mod the standard airbox if I were you. I tried that during my great induction modding sorte.Induction kits are noisy, that's a given. Some people like it, I don't personally, but for some reason, tampering with the factory box makes a god awful noise and if you remove the helmholtz resonator (aka snorkel in the box lid), the bloomin dashboard shakes when the engine comes on the cam!! Not pleasant!
Geastb 0
So best leave as it is and get a BMC filter or ram air job then?
DundeeDub 0
go BMC and smile for the rest of you life....lol
FishWick 21
Of all the induction kits available for the VR, I like the BMC because the filter is enclosed like the standard setup, and the turn2 CAI. I like that one because you get a chuffing great pipe that sucks cold air in from outside and that huge tube helps with torque. I think the CAI and BMC both deliver around 5-7hp if the rest of the engine is tip top.
Geastb 0
turn2 CAI. I like that one because you get a chuffing great pipe that sucks cold air in from outside and that huge tube helps with torque. Where do i get one of these from? Never heard of them!
DundeeDub 0
The BMC comes with a cold air feed too, plus the carbon clyinder looks good in the engine bay.Do a serch on a serch engine for +BMC +CDA +VR6i use google and come up with loads of sites, just make sure you serch in the uk only though
DundeeDub 0
try:http://www.passionmotorsport.co.uk/BMC7.htmhttp://www.advanceevolution.co.uk/BMC_CDA_Info.htmhttp://www.stealthracing.co.uk/sr_mount.htmlI got mine from passionmotor sport and paid just a little more than that for it...lol it was when they were new to the country though so don't mind [ Edited Thu May 20 2004, 07:57PM ]

Guest snyper
Or try http://www.turn2usa.com/a3vr6caiinstall.htmlSo what you are all saying is that i may have been a bit hasty in ordering a panel filter then !! Would i gain anything form making the pipe a larger diameter ?
FishWick 21
What the turn2 pipe? You can't make it any larger than the diameter of the MAF, which is what size the standard pipe is. You can get big bore MAFs though. They're made of Alloy but are generally for turbo applications.
Guest snyper
No Sorry. I meant the intake pipe that goes from the inner wing to the air box, keep it in place just make it larger ? ?!
