Storing a car over winter

Recommended Posts

i once had a so called pro cover for a car i had it was breathable , but it still rubbed the paint and built up condensation , my view is leave it uncoverd and just clean it as you would if you were on the road with it , open the roof on sunny days , handbrake off , i know its your pride and joy but it was built to be out side . haveing said that if you can get a lock up go for it !

There aren't any garages around here so that isn't an option unfortunately plus i need it here so i can work on it - thanks for the advice the cover does have a soft lining to it and hasn't had any adverse effects so far but maybe your right about just treating it as if i was running it normally :)

Sorry to hi-jack but on the subject of storage' date=' Im after a good car cover for my corrado... it gets really dusty in my garage for some reason... from the dryer and what not, so wanting a cover to keep it all protected...

what size and what cover would be best? :)

A cotton double sheet is best if it is inside and under cover. Charity shops do them for a couple of £££.

put a light coat of grey primer on the brake discs to stop the rusting ..... put it up on axle stands that should save the tyres if they go flat or soft .... i put a small heater in my cabby and turned it one once a week for a few hours to help dry it out .....

Can also get zip up bags that have extractors fitted to remove moister, or you can get a rigid folding jobby, basically you drive the car up to the front of this cover that is all folded on the floor, then you just lift it over the car. It doesn't touch any part of the car, and allows a breeze through to keep it dry.....I can't remember where I've seen them but they looked quite good, and I didn't think they were very expensive either....worth a look....
