baz8328 0
I have just bought some red PowerPlus 10mm leads from DUBPOWER. I have fitted them and due to the thickness of the leads they dont fit in the engine plastics ?? Anyone come across this and how can i sort it ????? (one last question - I have come to fit the 7th lead and cant find it . My vr6 is a OBD1 and im not sure it needs the 7th PLease Help
thegoth 5
the short bouble ened lead is the king lead for those (few) of us with distributors. You'll have no need for it.10mm leads are way to fat for the plastics. Think you can squeeze 7mm, maybe 8mm, in by cutting out the clips. Think everyone else in the situation just uses cable ties.p.s. I'm going to delete your other post now I've contributed to this thread

WaynesVR6 2
I just fitted a set from C and R enterprises and they are 8mm, fit perfectly and are good for whatever you want to throw at them. I payed just under £70 for them.

matty.vrt 120
i got the 11mm dub power ones a bit overkill but idles and runs loads better.
FishWick 21
Is it a case of the bigger the lead the better? It's marketing horse schitt mate, save your money. The stock leads are plenty good enough.People only find improvments from spark related products if the standard parts weren't working properly to begin with.A match will burn a house down just as easily as a blow torch. Engine power comes from the correct air / fuel mixture, not the spark. A properly set up mixture only needs a minimal spark to ignite it.
VR6Pete 1,455
yep, agree with Kev, I've got myself a set of 8mm magnecors on mine. fit fine in the plastics, no messing, I only got these as I had dodgy HT leads, and the ones from GSF I got fell bits after a few months, so invested in a decent set, and magnecor offer a repair service which I've taken them up on recently having new ends fitted. bungy 2
On any car I've had before I've never gone for larger leads and was curious as to what they bring to the table. I would rather buy better quality than just "large".
Ben Seabrook 4
had magnecor leads on mine they were rubbish - changed to the direct replacements for the original ones for Euro Car Parts and the car runs so much better with them am also not the only person I know off to have had probs with and given up on Magnecor
craggsy 91
I had magnecors...... but melted em a bit when i had a bit of an engine fire. Run 11mm dupower stuff now, have earth points on em all and sit under my schrick manifold so get no problems
FishWick 21
On any car I've had before I've never gone for larger leads and was curious as to what they bring to the table. I would rather buy better quality than just "large".And ironically the original VW red leads are the best quality ones you can get, bar NONE!!I can see why folk go aftermarket - it's because the VW leads are stupidly expensive, well over £100 for the set of 6. But they are a good investment as they last for years and work very well.
