Back on the road after 4 months.Pick it up on Thursday. Broooom broooom.Wheres my cheque book...........

shail 0
Dare i ask how much it cost? Hmmm....i dont like talking about it. I haven't paid up yet, but when i do i am looking at £2000 inc VAT. I was expecting to pay less, but didnt include for a new clutch. Thats less than i would have lost selling the car as it was. What do you reckon - is it reasonable? It did include a new clutch.
Slim 0
Well look at it this way, with an engine that's done 5000, you're more or less getting a new car for your 2 grand.
dubloke 4
saw them pushing it back into the workshop on sunday after the g40 rr day if it was the same one! what colour is it? had a vr lump lying on the workshop floor too, looked quite clean, your new engine perhaps? tandino 1
£2000 is a bit of a bragin really. If you work out it costs about £700 ish to do timing chains on a VR you got a good deal 8) Pete.

The cars silver. Roll on thursday. Thanks for putting my mind at rest about the £2k, sits a bit better in my head now...no timing chains to worry about, no clutch to worry about.Wonder how much power it has? Its a 2.9 lump with my old manifold & ODB2 coilpack, management etc...AS an aside, i was speaking to a bloke at work whos just put an induction kit on his Rover 216 GTi - he rekons it gives an extra 25BHP - i dont know that much about cars, but i do like the odd joke now and again. Gutted, as i would have been interested in knowing what its putting out. Might pop over though to say hello & have a general nose around at all your VR's

VR6Steve 0
Shail, thats fantastic news. Sounds like you got a much better deal than going with a new 2.8.Happy motoring.
antera309 3
Hey Shail! You definitely got a good deal there, considering you would have paid £800-£900 for the timing chain & clutch jobs anyway.A 5,000 mile 2.9 is a superb basis for further tuning. Nice one!!Hope you're happy with your new lights, BTW!!
shail 0
Nick ? yep, I am well happy with the lights ? they are so much brighter than the stock items. I think they might need adjusting a bit ? the left one is kinda pointing in the air a bit! So?..I got my motor back. & all I can say is WOW. Its much much smoother than my old engine, it purrs / roars depending on how much welly you?re giving it. It also seems that the power comes in slightly quicker & it REALLY pulls ALL the way to the red line. My old engine didn?t do this, but that may have been because the HT leads were a bit old and arcing & the engine was on its way to going bang. Also, I looked down the oil filler hole ? & from what I can see, the engine is so clean ? it looks like its just come out of the box.I was driving the thing all last night ? average MPG was about 18. Average size of smile ? ear to ear. One problem ? steering is very heavy to the right. Vince@Stealth reckons it might be a problem with the camber, as I took it there on a low loader with the wheels strapped up. Its going back in next week for a quick alignment check.
