Cars back from the dead

Recommended Posts

Just had a call of Vince at Stealth Racing. My car is done. My old engine went bang, so they sourced fitted another one.

They sourced an engine which Vince knows the history of. Its a 2.9 VR6 form a rado, he said its only done about 5 thousand miles !amazed . (came out of a 94 car when it was crashed in 94, and has been sitting in a workshop ever since) He said it drives like a dream. Also got the clutch done and some new HT leads.

I am so happy. Back on the road after 4 months.

Pick it up on Thursday. Broooom broooom.

Wheres my cheque book...........

Dare i ask how much it cost? :o

Hmmm....i dont like talking about it. I haven't paid up yet, but when i do i am looking at £2000 inc VAT. I was expecting to pay less, but didnt include for a new clutch.

Thats less than i would have lost selling the car as it was.

What do you reckon - is it reasonable? It did include a new clutch.

saw them pushing it back into the workshop on sunday after the g40 rr day if it was the same one! what colour is it? had a vr lump lying on the workshop floor too' date=' looked quite clean, your new engine perhaps?[/quote']

might have been the new engine. The cars silver. Roll on thursday.

Thanks for putting my mind at rest about the £2k, sits a bit better in my head now...no timing chains to worry about, no clutch to worry about.

Wonder how much power it has? Its a 2.9 lump with my old manifold & ODB2 coilpack, management etc...

AS an aside, i was speaking to a bloke at work whos just put an induction kit on his Rover 216 GTi - he rekons it gives an extra 25BHP - i dont know that much about cars, but i do like the odd joke now and again.

Didn't put my name down for the RR as i didn't know if i would be on the road by then. Gutted, as i would have been interested in knowing what its putting out. Might pop over though to say hello & have a general nose around at all your VR's

Nick ? yep, I am well happy with the lights ? they are so much brighter than the stock items. I think they might need adjusting a bit ? the left one is kinda pointing in the air a bit!

So?..I got my motor back. & all I can say is WOW. Its much much smoother than my old engine, it purrs / roars depending on how much welly you?re giving it. It also seems that the power comes in slightly quicker & it REALLY pulls ALL the way to the red line. My old engine didn?t do this, but that may have been because the HT leads were a bit old and arcing & the engine was on its way to going bang.

Also, I looked down the oil filler hole ? & from what I can see, the engine is so clean ? it looks like its just come out of the box.

I was driving the thing all last night ? average MPG was about 18. Average size of smile ? ear to ear.

One problem ? steering is very heavy to the right. Vince@Stealth reckons it might be a problem with the camber, as I took it there on a low loader with the wheels strapped up. Its going back in next week for a quick alignment check.
