how fast are volvo v70s?

Recommended Posts

Funniest thing some time ago was me coming back on the A27 nr Arundel in my Saab loaded up with the back seats folded down with a set of wheels and loads of other car parts in the boot - i had a V70R Estate in the Goldy/Bronze colour come hammering up behind me after bullying a Honda Prelude Vtec out of the way - of course i had to show him the error of his ways - he got he jump on me initially due to his car kicking down a couple of cogs but once my T16S came on boost - bye bye 8o) - he was well up for a rumble and it was all in good spirit but i think he got a bit of a surprise - all the better with a fully loaded boot - sort of makes it even more amusing :P:P

Pete.

The stock T5's are around 225bhp - T5R's are 240bhp' date=' 850R's are 250bhp and the later V70R (facelifted 850 shape) were 265bhp.....[/quote']

Then I guess what yer saying here is "All Volvo drivers are dreamers & Airheads " then :P .... I got my figures from The VOC forum where they claim that a stock car is 270bhp....

Fortunately, I don't own or care about them.... But Nuttin' beats Olly K's S4.......GO OLLY, GO!!!!!!!!!!! :P:P:P

I've owned a Volvo T5. 225BHP as standard.

You cant drive them in the wet or go round corners but in a straight line there is no way a VR(standard) would keep up with it. I'd pay money to see it happen. I raced many a chav in his VR6 when i had my Volvo and 99.9% of them would have to move over to let me pass them by.

I've even embarrased a Porsche Boxster driver. on a straight.

All you need is a slight tweak and trust me they are easily hitting well over 280bhp.

Also bear in mind most of them are Auto's. Manual ones go like shit off a shovel.

Mind you, absolutely shite round twists and roundabouts - FWD, all that power...

I wouldnt argue with that...I've had one go past me at a rate of knots before.... but fast or not I'd never buy one its a volvo ffs ;)

Could be that the VOC guys are quoting the "continental horsepower" or PS. This stands for "PferdeStarke" - the German translation of "horse power". This measure was chosen in Europe as being the closest thing to a horsepower that could be expressed in nice round metric units - 75 kilogramme metres per second to be exact. It is commonly used by car manufacturers nowadays and tends to get used synonymously with bhp although it is actually a slightly smaller unit of power. One PS is about 98.6% of one bhp.

So 270PS is actually 266bhp. ;)

Gotta change my user name !dodge
