xyber 1
How often do you have to clean them to keep them looking good, what do you use to clean them and do you protect them with wheel wax or anything?Just want to know how durable the finish is or whats involved to maintain them b4 I decide weather to get the polishing done as i know that the shinier they will be the more chance of scratching them/dulling the finish will becheers
patpong_pete 0
i have the Orig Audi TT alloys with the factory finish laqueri seen sals and yes they r bling blingbut i would say they are high maintance as they have no laquer so no protection from brake dust or rock salt in winterand that means cleaning almost every day
binliner 0
In the summer how often you clean them depends on how often you use the car and what the weather is like but a weekly wash is normally fine and I usually polish mine monthly or for showsIn the winter forget it unless you want to wash them daily! Jk* 0
I wash mine twice a week, and polish them once a week.
Rikki 2
I use autosol on mine every couple of weeks just to get rid of the light scratches and just soap and water every time i clean the car. Brasso wadding is good for a quick buff up and also meguiars nxt wax is great the first time i used it i didnt wash my wheels for 3 weeks (yes, gasp, shock horror) and literally the dirt just fell of even with just a cloth! SankysVR6 1
Ive just taken mine off for the coming winter months , as i don't think i will be going to any more shows this year
Phat VR6 3
can't you just polish them up and then lacker them to keep them from loosin the shine
xyber 1
You can but the difference between DIY polish and pro polish is massive and if you laquer them they loose a fair bit of the mirror effect and when compared with unlaquered they look slightly dirty.I may have found a solution though so will post up the results when Ive got it sorted (end jan)
BADOIR 2
Iused to do Sals once a week twice if showing, just used soap and water then buffed em with polishing cloth.. but they are F//KED now she curbed both nearsides and chopped the shit out of em ,No BLING BLING now.... crish72 0
Brillo pads bring the shine up lovely, followed by a quick wax to protect...
xyber 1
Unless they are mirror polished, then a brillo would ruin them
Lizard Racing 0
Ive only polished mine once in 2 months and I only wash them once a month if I have the time! The brake dust is getting pretty baked on now. I use the car every day but they do polish up fine with a proper mop and soap bar which is very satisfying.
xyber 1
i find a coat of EGP and p21s wax puts on a decent protective layer against brake dust
Jk* 0
I still have mine on now, was going to get winter wheels but TBH if i give them a soap wash and wipe down every 3-4 days and a polish every 2-3 weeks they stay looking shinny. I will however have them professionally polished again nearer the show time to get out some of the swirls that i have added.
