six appeal 53
Yep with Greenlight and all mods declared, safer in the long run, and also if the worse should happen and it gets stolen, I can claim more money back as they have all the copies of the receipts and money spent on it (this is why they have given me a higher agreed value)
dubloke 4
me too, and just to add insult to injury, the schrick i had fitted has added nothing to the insurance premium as hic only base their policies on a bhp increase, and the 12bhp its given over previous is not enuff to warrant charging me more! bonus! binliner 0
yep declared everything with HIC
Eat this 2
hmmmm maybe i should declare the zorst then
Pittuf 0
I declare everything, you cannot account for other people no matter how carefull you are with the car.My fiesta got written off because some muppet cut through a car park, it was inspected by the insurance company, if I hadn't declared the mods, then I wouldn't have got anything. DundeeDub 0
i declare everything to, i feel its the best way to go, may cost a small bit extra but in the end you'll be better off
binliner 0
if you're with someone like HIC or greenlight they won't charge you any extra for things like exhaust, induction kit, lowering etc and they replace modified parts with modified partsMark... you might get away with not declaring the chip though
N3DXT 0
Yep all declared to HIC, I try and do all mods around renewal time that way I only have to try to get through to them on the phone once a year
goodboy1451 0
Great post!!! Thanks guys for the tips. I have just gotten a Schrick manifold for my stock VR6 and am scouting to renewing my insurance. Seems like HIC or Greenlight are good bets to go with. Greenlights quoted me 600 quids for full comprehensive.
VR6Steve 0
Also worth trying Adrian Flux. They have just saved us a good £2-300 over our Grrenlight renewal figures.
mark@vagworx 0
Yeah, i've always dodged declaring things just to cut costs really....but in the long run if the worst comes to the worst then i'm buggered. My premium's up for renewal soon so i'll give HIC, Greenlight and Adrian Flux a call. I'd really like an agreed value on the car too.
DundeeDub 0
i got a very cheap quote from admiral !!!! don't know how but all mods inc and 1 year no claims came to £420 fully comp
acf8181 0
whats peoples thoughts on powerflex bushes, vibra engine mounts, and highline alloys on a non-highline?i once had a un -dec;ared modded car written off, and the inspector said nothing...but then i was claiming off the other party...so it didn't cost them anything (in fact they made money due to the excess). mark@vagworx 0
Here's a question.......If you car was manufactured with a CAT....like mine.....and the CAT is then a legal requirement for the MOT etc etc.Well what if you take of the CAT and use a decat pipe........and then go a insure your car declaring the decat pipe and they accept it......then surely that's voiding the MOT and thus voiding your policy.........if you know what i mean......hmmm
Mangold 0
Good point Minty, might want to keep that one quiet then! Bit of a grey area I recon.

mk3anni 0
Does nobody here use Brentacre?????HIC won't touch me cos of the state of my licence, and Brentacre bent over backwards to get me covered........really rate them. And yes, all mods declaired
VR6Steve 0
I've tried Brentacre a couple of times, but their quotes have fallen just short each time. Also not found them the easiest to get through to either.I will still keep trying them though as they have always tried their best. Nerih 0
I used Elephant, they gave me a very cheap quote, insure my stereo (upto £2100 becuase i declared it), my new inpro headlamps and porche design 90 alloys (which are still getting polished).
Geastb 0
Might have to give them a go!
Slim 0
Isn't it illegal not to declare all your mods? All mine are declared, pretty much because I'd hate to be paying about a grand for insurance that was never valid in the first place.[ Edited Fri Oct 22 2004, 10:18AM ]
