  1. I keep coming down to my car with the windows open. Seems during the night something is causing the electric windows to go down. Car is very wet inside that's to the rain. It's a mk3 golf vr6. Anyone else come across this problem?

I did have the bonnet open (sitting on rest not on the latch).

Closed that now so will monitor.

This car is not used much, The battery has not gone flat starts fine.

  2. its due to it being too low..the RAC man said there was a risk of damage. Modified  = anything that is not standard. RAC don't cover Nurburgring either. Insurance companies seems the way forward. RAC is around £150 per year for one car only. so moved to my trusty Volvo T5 and will cancel when it comes to renew..annoying as it renewed 2 weeks ago!!. Good news, someone if whipping my gear box out in the next couple weeks so hopefully get the VR6 fixed and back on the road before winter really sets in. Recovery guy said the same thing..normal tow truck would had got it on. Complaint form on its way.

The next time I see an RAC man at a modified car event I get to have an interesting conversation.

Also if I couldn't pay it..then what they leave me in the middle of nowhere..I'm sure they have a duty of care..esp if it was a female.

  3. Some may already know this, but I have had a lesson in not reading T&C's. Broke down in my VR6, RAC guy said we can tow you for £200 as its modified it will need a special tow truck, hence the charge.  Its in our T&C's,  modified cars are not covered and it is in their General section, point 13. So if you have RAC and have a modified car you might want to check with them, see if it is covered. Or be expected to cover the Tow home.

Remember its your responsibility to review the T&C's.

  4. Is there an inspection point or does the box need to come off. I'm no mechanic but have friend who can help. Also if it's a fork what does that mean I need to replace the whole clutch or something else as its a uprated clutch. If anyone lives near me fordingbridge and wants to make some money they are more than welcome to come tell me what's wrong :-).

  5. Broke down today. RAC man said gearbox has gone. Gear linkage is fine. Clutch pedal has pressure. When you put in gear and lift off nothing happens. Also anyone know anywhere that does uprated boxes for mk3 VR6's? Or what my options are? It's running around 300bhp so is not standard. Or am I better to go for a rebuild?
