  1. I have ordered myself some vented discs and some redstuff pads and they should be here middle of next week ready for fitting Coming along now i think.. I hope. I also decided on the redstuff pads as they are good for cars with over 200bhp and i would be liking too increase my power before needing new pads.
  2. SUCCESS!!!!! managed to get the fornt and the rear driver side suspension off completely this afternoon! Im happy with that. haha and this is the old top mount for the front... it lost against the hacksaw.... next day off i will be fitting the new suspension on and then attacking the passenger side... see how that goes...
  3. I guess thats a bit easier on me knowing its not just this shit thing... haha. I appear to be annoying my neiaghbors though with the constant hammering, but i am getting somewhere for now... The rear is also a pain and full on seized. Has anyone got anyideas for that one? I cant chisel as its one bolt and no nut. Thanks
  4. Oh, also bought new top mounts to replace old ones seeing as im doing the suspension, nothing exciting, just standard replacements.
  5. After buying and collecting some new suspension (coilovers) for the vr, i set about trying to take the old ones off. My days, I don't think any of the bolts have ever seen grease... All are seized on and are near on impossible to get off. Managed to get the bottom two undone, however the top bolt i am having to chisle off/break it off. (have only attempted the front so far....) To help myself though, I decided to remove the disk/calipers as i am changing all the brakes for new ones, and somehow, the calipers and disc all came off as one...The pads are stuck to discs, which is annoying. Pl
  6. mind those puddles folks, already drowned my daily...

  7. Does not sound too bad that then. Seems like a sensible option really, and hopefully not too costly. Will look more into it in the new year, as I have ran out of money due too Christmas... I am hoping to get brakes and coilovers next and hopefully fix it all in one hit Thanks for all your help though Lukey.
  8. Strange how one side pokes more than other. Are they both the same offset and the previous owner didn't just wreck one wheel and replace it with an ebay cheapie? They look really smart imo though. The black goes well against the green, and that gold
  9. those wheels are brill! Glad you got them sorted though. Sits a nice hight as well on them. Good to hear that the dash is going back in (slowly) Keep it up though man. I seem to have stopped on mine..haha
  10. What do you mean by the carriers? And if i did up the disc size would i not also need new calipers? If so it will probably be too much for me too afford unfortunately.
  11. I would like to possibly supercharge it...but by the time i get round to doing that i would need new brakes anyway so normal brakes will do then Using this info I need to buy myself some Christmas presents!!
  12. A grille? Hope you manage to get that heater working soon man. Gutted about that new one being busted though? But as said, parcel guys kicking them about :/
  13. Do you guys have any recommendations of pads? Good ones but ones that wont empty my pockets. I have heard Green Stuff? are meant to be pretty good?
  14. "Disc is a disc" That works for me And anything too keep the cost as low as possible while still getting good parts. Ok, thanks. I know now that mine is OBD2. I am hoping that i should be able too keep the rear discs but if i find a deal ill probably get the full set. Thanks again.
  15. So, looked at cleaning the brakes up today to try and see if they worked. Decided not to bother as the front discs look as if they have no miles left of life and the pads are nearly gone. So im going to get some new brakes for it. Question over it though, As stupid as it sounds, but is there any difference between front and rear discs/pads? The other question i got is about grooved and drilled discs? Im guessing drilled discs are for weight saving? But is there any other benefits or negatives about them or should i just stuck with normal discs? Thanks all.
  16. congrates on getting the 2nd car (Y) not a bad one either by the sounds of it Bet that has relieved a load of pressure? Good luck with the new matrix etc though. Will turn out alright
  17. So with that infomation does it mean you can get yourself a refund on both parts?
  18. I got myself a manual on the vr6 engine but its for all the engines. Ill see which one it is first and ill let you if i would like that mate. Thanks for the offer.
  19. I dont blame you for one second with that mate. Hopefully they will be back and working though. Be shame too see it go to a waste. And that my friend, is called sods law haha
  20. Dam man. Really gutted for you as you really are putting your heart and soul in this so it seems. Well, you were at the start it seemed. Shame about all the issues with the matrix's and all, but one silver lining, at least you noticed the pipes were different before fitting the new one! Wish you some good luck for this
  21. Car has now got no holes in the floor! Bonus. Getting a Mk3 Golf Haynes manual shortly so i can start to take apart the brakes and suspension to clean/replace. This is now getting somewhere... Any tips on how to take apart and clean the brakes would be much appreciated. Thanks
  22. Well thats the dying battery fixed. Next issue is too get the standard lights on. Although I think i need new bulbs as the ones out of the projectors do not in the new light holders. Joy of Joys. In other news, going to the welders on monday to get the holes covered hopefully. Shall keep it all updated.
